In all probability, I won’t be going out of Manila during the Holy Week madness. But the whole clan did spend an enjoyable time in Batangas for the past few days to enjoy the beaches before all the crowds pour in.

The seaside towns of Batangas province will always be desirable destinations for burned-out cityslickers like me since it’s just two hours’ drive from Manila.
The collage of photos show our stopover in the Sampaguita Beach Resort in Bauan town. By Batangas standards, the beachfront is already nice since it has white (not black) sand. There was no huge placard or banner announcing the name of this beach. We just stumbled upon it while enjoying a nice boat ride from Lemery town, hopping from island to island. There are a number of resorts along the Bauan shoreline but not as nice as Sampaguita. The mini-resort has open-air cottages which you can rent for P300 and overnight rooms pegged at P1,500 for as much as 33 hours use. You can also cook your food here, go on a picnic, swim or just enjoy the view. The comfort room is well-maintained and from the distance you can see the adjacent town of Anilao which is one of the top diving spots in the Philippines.

Certainly my kids had a nice time frolicking in the water and in the sun. It is their first time to do so after classes ended this year. I am proud to say that all of us now sport a nice tan. Life is indeed glorious in these islands!
