During my recent trip to Pagsanjan, we stayed at the La Corona Resort and found their Ropes Challenge Course very interesting. It is a series of “high” and “low” outdoor events that are surprisingly in-demand among top Philippine companies as a tool for teaching team-building, leadership, communication, coaching, and risk-taking.

Could you do one of these? Like most people,I have fear of heights and will not bungee jump even if offered a million bucks. The closest I ever got to an adventure was ride this twistin’-and-turnin’ super-rollercoaster at the theme park. It was something that I’ll only do once in my life.

I took a shot of this girl who climbed what appears to be a 40-foot pole and then walked through a circular log in the middle. Of course she was strapped to her body, but still it can get scary. The secret, she said, is not to look down while doing it.

There are a lot of other exciting team events in the La Corona de Pagsanjan Resort, among them:

The Spiders’ Web — people pass thru different holes in an oversized spider’s web. You have to go to the other side without touching the net

Pole Tire — The whole team tries to get a car tire placed inside a 12-foot high pole and then returns it to its original place without the tire touching any part of the pole

Trust Fall — A person stands on an elevated ramp five foot high and falls backwards into the waiting hands of his teammates

Loop Traverse — A participant crosses from one post to another using a series of hanging loops as support.

* A technical safety crew and director are required for the Ropes Challenge Course
