2006 World Cup fever heats up even more: meet the hunks of football

The World Cup fever is on in Manila! Okay, the crowds are mostly male but at least this basketball-crazy country is taking notice of another sport for a change.A lot of bars and lounges, including one in the hotel I work in, have put up giant TVs and projection screens to show the matches now happening in Germany. And the atmosphere is going to heat up even more on the way to the finals. Which team do you think will win?

Some say current champion Brazil – with its power-packed line-up – has a strong chance of winning the World Cup back-to-back. Their midfielder Kaka, wearing jersey no. 8, is really good and … and looking good as well :P

ronaldo

Portugal may be a dark horse but it’s sure got a dazzler in its No. 17 forward Cristiano Ronaldo whose official club is the Manchester United. As of the latest, he’s been injured which means, we won’t see him for the rest of the finals… dang! Cristiano is surely sexy with a capital S. And it helps that he always seems to appear half-naked on the field, heheh.

alberto gilardino

Italia played a brilliant match against Australia’s Socceroos yesterday where it beat the latter to the punch. This might just give the Azzurris a good shot at the finals. It helps that they got a dashing attacker in #11 Alberto Gilardino. Oh my! This person’s presence simply smolders…on and off court, we mean;)

michael owen

Yay! I think Michael Owen - #10 of Team England – is the handsomest of the bunch. I thought there was some resemblance o Brad Pitt, only that he’s more boy-next-door than Brad Pitt, errr, Mr. Jolie.

Too bad that like fellow good-looker Cristiano Ronaldo, Owen has been sidelined by injury. Howell, there is always David Beckham….

Football, isn’t that the game played by very highly paid people who lack the ability to string together words into sentences; and supported by equally minded individuals who drink a lot of beer and then fight with anyone who happen to be there?

Or is that just football in the UK………..
