Christmas brings out the most wondrous anticipation in children… those fun kiddie parties, the colorfully-wrapped presents, the mad scramble for toys. This year I skipped all the planning and wrapping and brought them to the department store themselves to choose and ogle over their new possessions - on Christmas Eve.
The good thing about Christmas is that our children can look forward to that moment in a year when their dreams of a Barbie or a Marvel hero can come true. The child can become more of a child and the adult can be a child again. One great outcome of Christmas for me is that I am enticed to be more giving and be the most loving parent I can be. I will always love looking at Christmas lights because it reminds me of the time when I oh-so-innocently wished upon a star. Now, it’s my children who can wish, wish, wish and we grown-ups have to spend, spend, spend. Not to mention cook, shop and dine. How was it for you? Happy New Year… here’s the bubbly!!
