Five questions from Noemi

Fellow mom and blogmate Noemi over at About My Recovery sent me five questions to answer in line with a running “Interview Me” post.

Leave me a comment if you want ME to interview YOU, or send me an email if you have more questions to ask me, as long as it’s another set of five. C’mon, don’t be shy, be ashamed, hehe Just keep this meme running until perhaps everyone has been interviewed.

Noemi: Pick a country that best describes your personality and give the reasons for your choice.

Corny naman kung Pilipinas ang sasabihin ko. I’d have to say Japan. It’s a mix of the traditional and the cosmopolitan, the old and the modern. I am old :D but I am very modern…. suits my personality di ba? :D

Noemi: What is your most meaningful blog entry, and why?

I am tempted to answer “the post on having a Brazilian wax” because it was the closest thing to writing erotica I can get and remains one of the most popularly-searched on my blog *ouch

But seriously, my favorite is “You Make Me Believe in Christmas” which I wrote while working on the graveyard shift on December 23, 2005. Nobody should underestimate a working mother’s love for her children.

Noemi: If you wrote a book about your life, what would be the first paragraph, or the opening hook that will mesmerize your readers ?

It was a long way from that typhoon-swept house she grew up with in Southern Leyte, but she thought about that memorable childhood now – chasing little fishes by the sea – now that she was basking in the glorious rays of the Mediterranean sun…. (okay, I can think of a better opening line, but it will probably take me minutesss to do so)

Noemi: You are both a journalist and a blogger. How does your writing style differ in traditional media versus your blog?

With the blog, am more relaxed, casual and open.

With the newspaper, I am still relaxed but of course I avoid the word s*it

Noemi: You made it as the first member and the only Asia-based team member of Globe Roamer TV. What special qualification or distinct advantage did you think you possess that got you selected ?

I am utterly shameless! Seriously, that’s better answered by Globe Roamer TV pioneer Eric who interviewed me. I had to ask him too why he chose me when it was pretty clear they were looking for Caucasians, and to quote him:

” I didn’t expect to bring an Asia-based traveler on, which is kind of what intrigued me. You contacted me even after we posted that we weren’t looking to Asia, which says to me “I want to go!” I’ve got great respect for someone who goes after it.”

Nothing is impossible if you go after it :)
