Home >> Technews >> iPhone arrives in Intramuros

The trailblazing Manila Bulletin Technews lab in Intramuros is officially now the first publication in the Philippines to get hold of the much-vaunted Apple iPhone. I am also excited to be one of the first to test-drive this wonder after my editor promised to lend it to me soon after he’s finished reviewing it. Something like next week ora mismo, hehe 😛

While I would have liked to review the ballyhooed iPhone, it would have put too much pressure and intimidated the hell out of me. Secondly, am not a Mac user. I am curious to find out though about the phone’s LCD touch screen which is probably similar to the LG Chocolate phone I reviewed before.

What’s good news is the phone’s ultra-user friendly features. As MB’s Technews Editor Art Samaniego writes in his blog:

“What’s good about this phone is the interface that even my 10 year old son and my 68 year old mother could easily operate it. The iPhone has dented button in front that serves as a escape key that brings you back to the main menu, this means that non-techie users would never get lost while using the phone.”

The bad news is that usage of the iPhone is locked to AT&T so its phone functionality can’t be used for now, only its music player and mini-web browser.

“Hackers are now racing whoever gets to crack the iPhone first. Just last week it was reported that hackers have already cracked the master root password of the phone. I guess I would not wait long before I could use my Globe SIM card for my iPhone,” states the ArtSam.

Let’s wait and see. But most of all, I can’t wait 😀

Meantime, would love to hear from overseas-based readers who’ve taken the first dibs at the iPhone.
