    September 7, 2007 by ajay

Here is moi posing with the new iMac in Manila Bulletin’s Technews Lab. I’ve never been a Mac user pero nakaka-in love at first iSight. It just means to say that we have to say bye-bye to those chunky computers and clunky cables soon .. the new iMac design has fantastic ergonomics, a wafer-thin keyboard and so much more.

    Features we love:

    - Control the computer via Apple remote
    - Intel Core 2 Duo processor
    - Choice of 20″ and 24″ widescreen displays
    - Built-in Bluetooth and WiFi
    - Fast web-browsing via Safari with parental controls for safe kiddie web surfing
    - Mini-version of all open web pages on the screen, instead of minimized ones
    - Smart Mail
    - Video chat with built-in camera and mic
    - Create your own music and make your own movies with iLife 08′s suite of software applications
    - Five USB ports, one port each for FireWire 400 and 800

    ETC.

    I want!! :P

  2. My type of guy, the meme

    September 6, 2007 by ajay

Got this from Noemi, with major revisions. It’s actually something that I haven’t discussed here so it’s time to sit down and think. What type of guy rocks my world? :P

    1. The first thing that comes to mind is sense of humor. It’s not only the fact that he can make me laugh to the point that his nostrils are contracting and he’s already being corny..it’s also being able to laugh at my jokes and yes, even if the joke’s already on him. Because my humor can be acerbic sometimes, bawal ang pikon.

2.Two things am OC about: grammar and hygiene. Not that you have to have an impeccable grammar for as long as we can communicate well and you don’t say things like “I wanna reap your clothes baby,” as what a guy said to me one time, which was enough to let me fall off my rocker.

Hygiene is self-explanatory. Not taking a bath for two days when you’re only living with your cats and dogs is understandable, but reeking of sweat and cigarette breath when you’re about to meet somebody is a turn-off. Being consistently clean is also a given. Apparently some people take this for granted when they’ve already established their own comfort zones. I can take skid marks on my marble floor, not on your underwear…ewwwe.

    3. Vegetarian/budgetarian…not! I like a man who enjoys his food because then we can dine together or he can inspire me to cook. But not to the point of being a glutton. A man who piles food on his plate like he was building a replica of Mt. Everest will surely make me wince.

  3. Boracay gets a boost as next international travel hotspot

    September 2, 2007 by ajay

This one comes rather belatedly in this corner as a piece of news. On a tip from Wysgal, as cited in the online Wall Street Journal: Boracay gets the attention of travel industry bigwigs as one of the world’s next travel hotspot.

The roll call (with corresponding descriptions and an interactive map) put together by WSJ writer Candace Jackson:

Boracay, Philippines – a regional vacation spot reinvented for luxury seekers

Sanya, Hainan Island, China – the “Hawaii of China,” popular with China’s leisure class

Almaty, Kazakhstan – a luxury hub awash in new oil money (“but groups like the Al Qaeda remain active in neighboring countries like Uzbekistan”)

    Mauritius- a culturally-diverse beach haven

Seychelles – an Indian Ocean alternative to the Maldives

Rwanda – a view of Africa few tourists have discovered

Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi – The flash of Dubai, with an eye toward culture

Montenegro – a newly-independent country where Sophia Loren used to vacation

Istanbul, Turkey – Hip boutique hotels and nightlife invade this old-world city

Nicaragua - Cheap beachfront properties for second homes

Honduras – A cutting edge Costa Rica

Providence, Rhode Island – A cultural center with more than $500 million revitalization projects under way

Minneapolis, Minnesota – An architectural and arts boom is drawing high-design hotels and growing tourism

Newfoundland, Canada – A Canadian island drawing second home owners.
