Because pancit is my favorite dish…

It is my first time to join Fampics, the monthly photo round-up of Pinoymomsnetwork. November’s theme focuses on anything “plated” and this naturally necessitated a mad rush to my Flickr photo library where I have lots and lots of food pictured in bowls, saucers and of course plates! My Flickr pool is going Pro for the second straight year now, thanks to the kind donation of this philanthropist blogger who’d rather remain anonymous. You rock man! :P

In the end, I settled for a very simple picture of chow mein or crispy noodle dish filled with mushrooms, cauliflower, sitsaro, carrots and assorted greens. The yellowness of the noodle and the colors of the vegetables stand out brilliantly against the whiteness of the plate. This dish I remember eating in 2005 yet, at the Lola Maria restaurant in Legend Hotel Mandaluyong. But the yummy flavor I remember up to now. I think that the secret of a good noodle dish is in the sauce, and always the freshness of the ingredients. Noodles are something I can eat everyday and something I can cook very well too. I like it because it’s as versatile as pasta. You can actually invent your own topping. Once I roasted some pork, cut it asado-style and placed it on top of my home-made pancit. Sometimes I eat my noodle with rice :P My favorite flavoring for my noodle is the juice of some seafood and a dash of oyster sauce. If am feeling lazy and want to cheat, I put some Knorr seasoning mix (beware of the MSG though.) It is nice when a noodle has lots of condiments or sahog.

How about you, what’s your favorite dish?
