The look of love, the look of Love Etc… by The Body Shop

February 17, 2010 by ajay

God knows there’s no other best time to feel BLAH than when you’re pregnant. No salon agrees to color my hair (even though the grays are showing) and spas won’t even give me my regular massage by reason of my swollen belly. My digitally-permed tresses have grown out and I can’t have them straightened at this stage. Looks like everything has to wait until delivery!

That’s why I felt quite elated when publicist Char of Stratworks chose to invite me for a beauty event. It was the launch of the new Love Etc… line by The Body Shop in the runup to Valentine’s Day. I said yes without blinking for the main reason that hubby and I patronize The Body Shop products. In fact, one of my first gifts to him (when we were not yet married) was a Body Shop man’s scent he likes. The invite even looked more alluring because there was a promise of free fortune-telling, photobooth, and of course a make-up session, among other fun activities.

Here’s Char and I, post-primping…. :D

The Body Shop event

During the event, I discovered the brand’s new Love Gloss (P650) which is lipsmackingly good. It is certainly one of my favorite beauty products at the moment. A lip gloss guaranteed to give extra pucker and sparkle to your lips. It even comes with a unique applicator that is almost shaped like a heart.

Other products in the Love Etc…. line are the 30 ml/ 50 ml Eau de Parfum (P1,495/P1995, respectively), 50 ml Eau de Toilette (P1,495), Body Lotion (P895), Body Butter (P895) and Body Wash
( P795). What’s the scent like? Feminine jasmine, with indulgent notes of vanilla, sandalwood and musk cream – definitely something worth a try!

Love ETC by The Body Shop

Perhaps I already told you I love learning make-up tricks, and there was time to do that I sat for a make-over session with one of Body’s Shop’s resident make-up artists, Ara. Thankfully, there’s a whole arsenal of TBS products for a particular kind of look you want, from morning to evening. I told her I just want a light, natural look for daytime and here’s how she went about it:

The Body Shop event

First, she applied Concealer Pencil #04 by dotting some points of my face, and levelling these off with a concealer brush

The concealer is topped off by The Body Shop #04 Flawless Skin Protecting Foundation SPF 25, a cream-to-powder foundation which gives a smooth finish.

Apply Loose Facial Powder #03 for extra highlight and shine.

Brush over TBS Brow and Liner Kit #02 to accent my brows

Blend Shimmer Waves eyeshadow over my eyes, with white as base and the rose color to highlight

Draw liquid eyeliner in black over the upper eyelids and limited edition eye pencil in brilliant blue just under the eyes.

Beautify the lashes with Divide and Multiply Mascara #02

Apply Cheek Blush in Vibrant Rose

Contour the face and give the illusion of cheekbones with Bronzing Powder #01.

Go for kissable lips with The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in Coral.

Needless to say, I liked the look! This is definitely something I have to duplicate next time … when I have the time :D
