That day being Holy Thursday, there was a dearth of hang-outs open, particularly the ones that we often frequent. But I remember how thankful hubby was that S & R Membership Shopping didn’t close its doors for last-minute grocery runs, it closed only during Good Friday. I also read an ad in the papers about select restos open in the Mall of Asia during Holy Week 2010 and that’s how we ended up in Fish & Co.
Fish & Co. is part of the Bistro food chain which includes TGI Friday’s, Italianni’s and Flapjacks. We like the last three for their big-size American (Italian) servings. I figure it was time to introduce hubs to Fish and Co. since he likes his fish and chips (preferably with malt vinegar, but they didn’t offer it). That’s what he ordered when we went there, while I settled for Salmon Teriyaki (single serving for P385).
Was glad that hubby was satisfied with his meal and the fish was just cooked right. I could say the same for my salmon. I thought how easy it must be to work in a fish restaurant (but only if you didn’t scale fish!) Fish and seafood is uncomplicated to make and is done in just a few minutes, unlike beef, pork or lamb which you have to tenderize for minutes and hours 😀
It would have been an uneventful meal, until hubby’s sweet tooth got the better of him and he ordered the Chocolate Pecan Cluster (sorry no photo of this one as I didn’t have my cellphone or camera). What’s remarkable about this dessert? At P405, it was more expensive than the hotel sweets I know and was priced the same as our main course. But the thing was, it didn’t taste as heavenly-looking as pictured in the menu. Hubby had to struggle with his fork as it became so tough (and dry!) from being frozen.
Whatta disappointment. I am just curious as to how people in this resto chain came up with their pricing. There should be a law against overpriced desserts that taste BLAH. 405 pesos (approximately $9) for a slice of cake that wasn’t even generously sliced is just robbery. I could buy a whole cake with that kind of money from Red Ribbon already, and I bet it would be more delicious. 😀
