…. and the distinction goes to:
No. 13 – Makati Shangri-La
No. 15 – The Peninsula Manila
No. 14 – Discovery Shores, Boracay
I have stayed in the first two, but haven’t been to Discovery Shores so we’re definitely putting it in our list. The Philippine establishments made it by a hairline in the awards. Still, it’s nice to know they’ve consistently adhered to international standards and we hope they have a higher ranking next year.
The Travel + Leisure awards is considered to be a prestigious one since it is conducted annually among the most discriminating and well-travelled readers of the magazine, which is considered to be a leading authority in its field. A scientific methodology is used and the hotels/resorts are judged on the following criteria: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food, and value.
I read this magazine, every time am in the lobby of the hotel am based in. I was certainly impressed with their disclaimer which is printed in every issue of the magazine: ” Travel + Leisure writers and photographers are the industry’s most reliable sources. While on assignment, they travel incognito whenever possible and do not take press trips or accept free travel of any kind.” Way to go! 😉
