The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is my newest toy. Actually I wanted the smartphone Galaxy S II but this tablet fell on my lap instead 😀 ( I won’t bore you with details). What do you know… am presently loving every moment with this tablet. In fact, am much more inclined to use it than I did with my 64gb iPad (sorry hubs!)
This tablet obviously has a larger screen than the old 7-inch Galaxy Tab. But what really appeals to me – aside from the super bright display – is the weight of this gadget. At only 565 grams, it is the ultimate in portability. Samsung did well in using lightweight plastic material for the back cover. A person like me believes that I shouldn’t be made to suffer for carrying a device and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 feels almost inconspicuous when placed inside my bag.
As a writer, I instantly developed a liking for the Galaxy Tab’s virtual keyboard. Somehow, the letters look larger and brighter compared to the iPad.If you add accessories like a full-sized keyboard dock, the tablet is good to go and can replace your much-heavier laptop or netbook already.
Here’s how the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 compares in size when placed side by side with Apple’s iPad2 (left). The second gen iPad looks taller but the Tab is wider. The Tab also has a higher resolution camera, is equipped with stereo speakers (whereas iPad 2 only has mono) and GPS (the Apple device only has digital compass).
I guess from the foregoing you know which is the better deal, hmm? Some other things that get me excited about this latest tab: Honeycomb, the latest Android OS for tablets; a super-fast dual core processor; Polaris Office; the built-in Readers Hub, flash support, etc.
Will update this review as soon as I explore this tablet and use more of the apps.
