Home >> Munchin' >> Tim Ho Wan in Manila!

I can’t wait for the opening of the new wing in SM Megamall called the Mega Fashion Hall which will house two of my favorites: clothing label H&M and (drum roll pls.) Tim Ho Wan, the dimsum specialists. The grapevine says this new Megamall wing will open on January 28, or before the Chinese New Year.

With the arrival of foreign establishments (or franchises, whatever you like to call it), there seems to be less and less reason to fly out of Manila. Tim Ho Wan is a favorite pit stop in Hong Kong. Though they have several branches in the territory, I usually go to their branch in IFC Central which is very accessible being just below Hong Kong station of Airport Express.

The signage doesn’t scream Tim Ho Wan but you know this is it because of the long queue outside.

In my own opinion, Tim Ho Wan has the same to-die-for dimsum goodness as Din Tai Fung, and I’ve also eaten at the original DTF location in Taipei.THW’s Michelin rating in HK/ Macau has been consistent. One can have a good yum cha here for two for as low as 500 pesos.

Most people vote for the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (middle) as their best dish. Am guilty of bringing this for takeaway to Manila 🙂

Steamed pork & green chives dumpling, radish cake and bean curd roll. Their sauces by the table always make the difference

Steamed rice with spare ribs, fried spring roll

Our tummies were so full, I think we forgot to eat dessert. I can’t wait to taste the full line-up at Tim Ho Wan in Megamall, if only the lines are forgivable. OMG! It’s coming so very soon!
