KL Tower Serviced Residences in Makati : a review

Warning: more Legaspi Village, Makati posts ahead. I’ve been loving this area since its relatively quiet streets (on weekends especially) present a less frenetic side to Manila’s financial district. I get to think how lucky are some friends to live here. But since some of us can’t be in this center of town, a savvy way is to live like a Makati local by checking into a hotel, even for just the weekend. That’s what we exactly did at the height of typhoon Lando.

The KL Tower on Gamboa St. Legaspi Village is actually a residential condominium but several floors are leased as hotel rooms. We booked because the rates aren’t bad really. They have a weekend special where the price was only P3,600++ for this studio premier room of about 40 square meters and two twin beds…

I did say ‘live like a local’ and the units at KL Tower Serviced Residences have their own dining area as well as kitchen equipment, like a microwave and induction stove.

Not missing was a TV and a working area…

I had to take this photo of my daughter, the hotel lover, sitting pretty by the work desk.

The bathroom was very basic. But the good thing with very new hotels like KL Tower is that everything is functioning. You don’t expect the usual problems with plumbing, leaking showers and such.

I loved the little touches like the handpainted holders and bed ornaments.

The giant mirror between the beds and the entrance hall is a good addition as well and expands the space. I definitely give a thumbs up to the expert interior design of KL Tower. Now, if only all of us can live clutter-free in real life, lol.

Here was the view from our room. I walked my way to the Legazpi Sunday Market since it was just walking distance from the hotel. The adjacent Legazpi Park would also make a great hangout for kids, if only it wasn’t raining during our visit.

So the kids tried the indoor swimming pool but the water was very cold too.

Good thing there was a sauna room and this play area, which wasn’t much really.

Here was part of the lobby which is of contemporary design. KL Tower is managed by the Hospitality Innovators Inc. which is handling a number of serviced apartments right now in Metro Manila. I really don’t like to generalize but the reception people at this property would do well to be more friendly and welcoming.

KL Tower

Overall, we had a very satisfactory stay. This hotel has the advantage of being just a walking distance away from Legaspi Village restaurants, Little Tokyo and the Greenbelt Mall. And for those who would like to stay in a hotel for several days or weeks, the serviced apartment concept where you have a kitchen and dining area proves to be more economical in the long run. This is something you can’t find in a regular hotel room otherwise.

Since I had blocked off my Tuesdays and Saturdays for the next 12 months, I would like to know if there are any workshops at the International Institute for Film and Arts in the next few months. Also the prices for each workshop or the whole 6 month package. Hoping for your quick response and thank you for you time.LUKE PEREZ
