Fearless forecast for the Top 12 finalists in Miss Universe 2016

It’s two days before the historic staging of the 65th Miss Universe pageant in our very own Manila, Philippines. After viewing the crucial Long Gown and Swimsuit competitions, we’re ready to name the Top 15 bets among the candidates who might just make it to the Top 12 in th semifinals. Feel free to consult this list when the winner is announced on Monday because one of the girls named here will become the next Miss Universe to follow the footsteps of Pia Wurtzbach…o di ba?

For this fearless forecast, am giving the floor to our resident beauty pageant expert Ojie Lucman. All these years of closely monitoring the pageants has given Ojie an infallible eye for spotting beauty, and his accuracy is in the impressive range of 95%. Ojie comes from a noted clan in Mindanao and pwede nya talagang i-career ito, who knows baka sya na ang sumunod kay Jonas Gaffud, hahaha.

Last Wednesday, Ojie and I met at the lounge of Conrad Manila to review the list. And we even got the bonus of rubbing elbows with the likes of Lupita Jones, hehe. Miss Jones was crowned Miss Universe in 1991.

The good news is that Bb. Pilipinas Universe Maxine Medina is a top contender for the crown, and this is even more bolstered by her outstanding showing in the preliminaries. Two other candidates from Southeast Asia are popular, and have a strong chance of making it to the finals: Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane and Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw.

Beauties from Latin America remain frontrunners of course. Our eyes are on Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach, Miss Brazil Raissa Santana and Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar.

Three other LatAm candidates are worth mentioning. Miss Argentina Estefania Bernal, Miss Nicaragua Marina Jacoby and Miss Puerto Rico Brenda Jimenez. Special shoutout to Miss Argentina who is a dark horse and might just pull a surprise on coronation day. Her beauty is haunting.
