  1. Manny Pacquiao is brand ambassador for Sony Philippines 3D products

    August 12, 2010 by ajay

    Manny Pacquiao for Sony

Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is now officially the brand ambassador of Sony Philippines’ much-awaited, state-of-the-art lineup of 3D home entertainment products. He is shown in the photo receiving a certificate from Sony Philippines president and managing director Takao Kuroda for being the country’s first owner of the Sony Bravia 3D TV and 3D Blu-Ray Player.

Prices aren’t known yet, but the advent of Sony 3D TV is expected to bring the excitement of playing 3D games and 3D movies right in the comfort of our own homes. The 3D TVs come complete with 3D glasses, and people from Sony are also saying that 3D will also be incorporated in their PlayStation 3 consoles and VAIO PCs soon after. It’s definitely worth watching out for! After the popularity of LCD TVs, I guess 3D is the next wave in TV technology (and everything else, besides!)

  2. Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey: tale of the tape

    Pacquiao vs. Clottey

It is going to be a tough fight for Manny Pacquiao on March 13 at Texas’ Cowboys Stadium. Clottey’s cook has boasted that the Philippines’ greatest fighter will most likely end up in the hospital. But that’s his word. Pacman is still heavily favored to win over Clottey, even though boxers from Ghana have a rep of being bloody brawlers. Clottey’s edge is that he is taller, heavier and has more reach than our pound-for-pound king (see tale of the tape below). He’s expected to stun with his powerful upper cuts and head butts. But Team Pacman promises to run the Ghanian to the ground with his skill and speed. We think it’s going to be an exciting match and we’re definitely watching ;)

    Weight : 146 lbs.

  3. And the winner for round one is… Team Jinkee!

    November 19, 2009 by ajay

I hate this Manny-Krista-Jinkee thing. It’s even outshadowing Pacman’s historic brutal bruising of the Sydney Olympian Miguel Cotto.Me and my friends and everyone else just can’t help but talk about it.

I still believe the Pacman-Krista affair wouldn’t have been blown out of proportion if only they possessed one thing that celebrity public figures should always be conscious about: discretion.

Pinoys will always love the underdog, and public sympathy appears to be tilted now towards Pacman’s aggrieved wife who’s stood by him through dimes and diamonds, Secosana and Chanel. In fact, the whole situation has given rise to an unofficial group called Team Jinkee.

Coming in a close second to Team Pacquiao, Team Jinkee stands for long-suffering, ‘martyr’ Filipina wives who have to endure the pitfalls of marriage in a macho, male-dominated society like the Philippines.

  4. After Pacquiao vs Cotto, it’s now Jinkee vs. Krista?

    November 15, 2009 by ajay

Some people just couldn’t help but be tickled with the latest rumor in the winning Pacman’s life. His reported love affair and romantic involvement with the aspiring actress named Krista Ranillo.

Beth Celis of the Inquirer, quoting people close to Manny Pacquiao, wrote last Friday, Nov. 13: “Not only does she [Krista] wipe his face and body during workouts, she also feeds him like a baby during mealtimes,” said the well-informed source.”

Not a few people saw the two of them in romantic Baguio City where Pacquiao trained for weeks.

Sources in the sports community now chorus “totoo talaga.” (yes, it’s true)

We can only say: yes it’s true. Manny Pacquiao and Krista Ranillo will be seen together in the forthcoming movie Wapakman, to be shown during the Metro Manila Film Festival 2009 :D

Who is Krista Ranillo and why are people suddenly curious about her?

  5. Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto: tale of the tape

    November 14, 2009 by ajay

The tale of the tape is complete after today’s weigh-in of the Philippines’ pride, Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao and Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas. Am sure everyone’s waiting with bated breath for the outcome of the much-awaited fight. And am sleeping early to catch it at 8 a.m. tomorrow, November 15, Manila time :D The tale of the tape (pre-fight measurements) show Cotto is taller, younger and heavier, but never underestimate the speed and the power of Pacquiao.

    Age : 30
    Weight : 144 lbs.

  6. Pacquiao vs Cotto : what people are saying

    November 13, 2009 by ajay

    Firepower - Pacquiao vs Cotto

A few more winks and the greatest Firepower fight on the planet will commence. Here are some quotable quotes gathered from news sources:

Pacquiao on Cotto: I feel stronger at this weight than I ever have. My punches are harder, my speed is intact. I keep getting warned about Cotto’s body attack but Cotto should be worried about my body attack.

Cotto on Pacquaio: I’m prepared for the speed of Manny. My hand speed is pretty equal to Manny’s. But can Manny’s power equal Miguel Cotto’s on Saturday night? I know what I’m capable of doing, and there is no doubt in my mind that I’m going to win this fight.

Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach: “We’re in great shape for the fight.”

Cotto trainer Joe Santiago: ” Good luck Manny, you’re going to need it.”

  7. Pacquiao-mania goes on

    May 12, 2009 by ajay

So the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter went home to a triumphant welcome as he toured key cities in Metro Manila yesterday. As officials scrambled for their own chance to share in the Pacquaio limelight, at least one piece of news caught my eye: youth party list Representative Raymond Palatino proclaimed Manny Pacquaio as the “Pambansang Hinlalaki.” A bit awkward sounding and the direct translation is “National Thumb.” Anyway, this was all meant to underscore Pacquiao’s role in encouraging people to vote in the 2010 elections (i.e. use their thumbs to register), a move that should complement Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan’s RV caravan.

Totally unrelated:, here’s one Pacquaio feel-good joke I got from my inbox today, courtesy of my friend Issa from Switzerland. Apologies to my British/Britain-based readers :D

What is the relation between Pacquaio and yoga? Indian yoga is an exacting discipline and takes one to three years to achieve.

    asanas yoga

While Indian yogis go into the ‘stream of consciousness,” Mexicans lose consciousness by drinking too much tequila. Unknowingly, they imitate the classic yoga pose:

British yoga is the easiest of all.
