Sheez, Manila is supposed to be Asia's "friendliest city" and when we say friendly, it means gay. And what could be gay-er than a visit to a gay bar!! :P I've brought a few foreign friends here and the most memorable part of their visit is not the hanging out in Makati's ritzy malls nor the sumptuous buffets in Manila's Chinese restos. No.... not even the calesa rides in Intramuros or roaming the length of Baywalk and Luneta. The highlight always is the trip to the gay bar where (aherrmm) pretty, sexy and independent women like us ogle at well-endowed men in their ... Continue Reading...
Kalesa (horse-drawn carriage), Manila
Kalesa I took this picture of a kalesa while on my Binondo trip last weekend. It seemed like such a novelty beside the gleaming Toyota sedans and Pajeros that were parked in Chinatown. Considering that these horse-driven carriages were introduced by our Spanish conquerors in the 18th century, it's hard to imagine that these means of transport are now over 200 years old! ... Should truth in blogging be the same as truth in advertising? One woman’s horrific story
The rise in the number of blogs in recent years has given rise to one concern: how credible and authoritative are bloggers in writing about places and things to the point of recommending them to anybody googling the internet in search of so-and-so? I might rave about a Lonely Planet hostel but it may not be for somebody ... Continue Reading...
Read & Meet: eyeball with a blog reader from HK
Me@mira Blogging is all about knowing more people, and I was certainly ecstatic to meet the first blog reader to contact me and request a meeting in person, Mira from Hong Kong. Mira had been researching about places to see in Manila en route to her vacation here and came to this site. She thought it best to write me and several emails later, we finally saw each other eye to eye. ... Continue Reading...
Manila Chinatown: Sights, sounds, taste & smell

I've never been to mainland China (although have been to Chinatowns in other parts of the world) and the one near my home in the center of Manila is the closest I can get to exploring this culture, considered one of the oldest in the world. Manila's Chinatown is a mish-mash of sights, sounds and flavors. It's a pain in the neck driving through its alleys so the more wise would be better off walking. This will give you more time to check through the stores, mostly ... Continue Reading...
