dunkin' hazelnut coffee Originally uploaded by annalyn. The Fashmagslag, who is in my favorite city - New York - raved before about how good Dunkin' Donuts hazelnut-flavored coffee is. Darn, I was excited when I found out they have it in Manila too. Needless to say, I've been drinking cupfuls of them and it's my favorite coffee at the moment. Anong panalo ng overpriced Seattle's and Starbucks? A cup with a swig of hazelnut liqueur (or whatever they call it) costs only P33 bucks and is enough to send me to caffeine heaven. Other flavors available are French ... Continue Reading...
An education, or miseducation?
Last week's encounter with Obscure Blogger (O.B.) has once again reinforced my conviction that getting an expensive education is not all that matters. What good is it studying in the country's premier convent school and university if you have little respect for the beliefs of others and much more resort to calling people names, in an extreme manifestation of low-life bigotry? These days getting "good, top-quality education" in the Philippines has been reduced to the level of a cult status. It's either you're Red, Blue or Green. Parents will do everything, even ... 8 countries I’ve been to and 8 countries I’d like to go to…right now!
There are only seven eight countries I've been to in my short but very adventurous lifetime. In no particular order, these are the United States, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, and Thailand. I don't know if this is fair or above-average by the middle class Filipino's standards but I am certainly lucky not to have spent for any of these travels. It simply went with the profession although I must note here that I had to twist an arm and a leg just to go to Europe (my close friends should know by now how I sailed the seven seas, so ... Bloggers’ Get-Together (again!)
berks-gamol Originally uploaded by annalyn. By Tito Rolly's reckoning, this must be the fifth time we are meeting our fellow bloggers this year and I have to admit...it's getting to be a tradition! This time around, we were set to welcome the lovely Tintin who is based in Texas and migrated to the US when she was 10 years old. Tin regaled us with stories about her life in the Cowboy State with hubby and how big the food servings there are. Likewise, it was my first time to meet the oh-so-charming Toni of "Wifely Steps" and prolific poet Jardine Davies. ... Continue Reading...
Warning: Dangerous Rant Ahead
It must be the Waray as well as the Tondo Girl in me but I can't ever back out of a good fight, especially if it involves Yours truly being dubbed a Blog Copycat by this Obscure Blogger Slash Self-Proclaimed Hotshot Marketing Consultant (kuno!). It all started last week when my California-based childhood friend, J, alerted me about an entry of Obscure Blogger (O.B.), a pseudo-friend from my not-so-recent past. You see, J somehow makes it a point to drop by O.B.'s blog when he wants to see how an overdose of narcissism can trigger the emotional death of a very ... Continue Reading...
