<p>With President Aquino presently in Japan for the APEC Summit, the holiday announcement was made through the government&#8217;s Twitter account <img src='http://www.annalyn.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Since November 29 falls on a Monday, this makes it a long weekend holiday for countless students, government and private sector workers throughout the country.</p>

<p>After November 29, the next long vacations for 2010 will be during the Christmas and New Year breaks as well as the observance of Rizal Day on December 30.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>November 16, 2010 has been declared a holiday  by Malacanang today to celebrate the Muslim feast of Eid&#8217;l Adha. As Nov. 16 falls on a Tuesday, this doesn&#8217;t qualify as a long weekend holiday, but at least the day off is still something that  students, state and private sector workers will enjoy <img src='http://www.annalyn.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>The holiday announcement was made possible through Proclamation No. 60 signed by President Aquino. </p>
<p>Eid&#8217;l Adha is recognized under the law as a national holiday by virtue of Republic Act 9849. The date for the celebration of this holiday is movable, depending on the lunar cycle. </p>
<p>Earlier, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) headed by Secretary Bai Omera D. Dianalan Lucman  recommended to Malacañang the declaration of the Nov. 16, saying the Islamic event is celebrated for at least three days in Arab and Muslim countries.</p>

<p>The remaining 2010 holidays are the following:</p>
<p>Bonifacio Day – exact date of observance is November 30</p>
<p>Christmas Eve – December 24 (additional special non-working day)</p>
<p>Christmas Day – December 25</p>
<p>New Year’s Eve – December 31 ( last day of the year)</p>
<p>Rizal Day – exact date is December 30</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Workers in the government and private sector in the Philippines brace for a long weekend next week as President Aquino proclaimed September 10 a regular holiday to observe Eid&#8217;l Fitr or the end of the holy month of Ramadan. September 10 falls on a Friday.</p>
<p>The declaration is contained in Proclamation No. 26 signed by the President. &#8220;To promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr,&#8221; it states.</p>
<p><span id="more-4113"></span></p>
<p>Eid&#8217;l Fitr or Eid is the festival when Muslims end their holy month of fasting or Ramadan. In the Philippines, the Eid&#8217;l Fitr holiday is legalized by virtue of Republic Act No. 9177 signed on November 13, 2002.</p>
<p>The remaining holidays for 2010 in the Philippines are the following:</p>
<p>November 1 – All Saints’ day</p>
<p>Bonifacio Day – exact date of observance is November 30</p>
<p>Christmas Eve – December 24 (additional special non-working day)</p>
<p>Christmas Day – December 25</p>
<p>Rizal Day &#8211; December 30</p>
