  1. SIPA, the first Pinoy game & app on iTunes & Android Market

Sipa pinoy game on Android & iTunes

A group of young mobile app developers have launched the first Pinoy-themed game on iTunes and the Android Market. It is called SIPA or simply called street hacky sack.
This game is a must-try because it reminds us of those good old days when Filipino street games like patintero, taguan, habulan, tumbang preso and luksong tinik ruled the day. If I mention these games to my kids now, I know they will just say DUH! to me because they’re more used to video games played on handheld consoles, desktops or internet cafes.

The desire to refresh our memory with traditional Filipino games is the inspiration for the development of SIPA. As Team Butchokoy, the proponents of the game, said: “Technology has changed the way kids play now but this same technology can help us appreciate games no longer played.  SIPA brings back childhood memories and introduces this to the younger generation.  On top of this, Butchokoy, the central character plays SIPA in historic and beautiful places in the country like Rizal Park, University of the Philippines, Quiapo, Mt. Pulag.  ?.”

    Xperia PLAY

I had a close look at the Xperia Play which was launched by Sony Ericsson Philippines yesterday at the official price of P19,990. Gamers are of course excited as this phone is the first one to be Playstation-certified. Translated: this means one can have the excitement of engaging in Playstation games at a superior quality for mobile.

If you purchase this phone (perfect for your gaming-addicted loved ones this Christmas!) it will come preloaded with the following games: Bruce Lee, Crash Bandicoot, FIFA 2010, Madden NFL 11, Star Battalion, and The SIMS 3.

  3. Samsung Galaxy Tab vs. Apple iPad : comparison sheet

    Samsung Galaxy Tab

Gadget addicts, look up!: in the ongoing IFA electronics show in Berlin, the much-talked about so far has been the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Samsung’s Android-powered tablet which is now touted to be the closest competitor to the earlier-released Apple iPad.

Samsung Galaxy Tab isn’t available locally yet (so we might as well hold our horses) but it’s worthwhile to compare the two, based on Samsung Galaxy Tab vs Apple iPad specifications. Unless iPad upgrades itself to include more features, looks like it’s Samsung FTW!!

    Screen:

SGT – 7-inch TFT LCD with 1024×600 pixel resolution
iPad – 9.7-inch LED glossy widescreen display with 1024×768 pixel resolution

    Camera:

    iPad – none
Samsung Galaxy Tab – 3MP AF camera with LED Flash, 1.3MP front camera for video calls

    Calling ability:

Refer to above. SGT allows one to make video calls, while iPad doesn’t. This also means that next generation iPad might have the feature as well.

    June 29, 2010 by ajay

Models Raya Mananquil , Isabel Roces and Valerie De los Santos are a sight to behold, but even more of an eye candy is the smartphone they’re holding: the much-touted Samsung Galaxy S which made its debut in the Philippines today.

    P1010852

    P1010859

    P1010850

Something about the Samsung Galaxy S specifications make it the “must have” gadget of the season. I certainly drooled the first time I held it in my hands. Its enviable feature set includes: super sleek form factor, 4-inch super AMOLED touchscreen, HD video capability, powerful 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, internal memory of up to 16GB (expandable to 32GB by microSD) and of course it is using Android OS version 2.1 which should make it user-friendly for us using Google :D
