  1. September 10 2010 holiday to celebrate Eid’l Fitr, the end of Ramadan

    Workers in the government and private sector in the Philippines brace for a long weekend next week as President Aquino proclaimed September 10 a regular holiday to observe Eid’l Fitr or the end of the holy month of Ramadan. September 10 falls on a Friday.

    The declaration is contained in Proclamation No. 26 signed by the President. “To promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr,” it states.

  2. List of Philippine holidays for 2010 announced

    Perhaps, President Arroyo wants to leave a legacy of holiday economics. Malacanang has announced a complete list of Philippine holidays for 2010, even if her term expires in May of next year.

    The whole listing follows:

    January 1 – New Year’s Day
    April 1 – Maundy Thursday
    April 2- Good Friday
    April 9- Araw ng Kagitingan
    Labor Day -May 1
    Independence Day – June 14
    Ninoy Aquino Day – Aug. 23
    National Heroes Day – August 30
    All Saint’s Day – November 1
    Bonifacio Day – November 29
    Christmas Day- December 25
    Rizal Day-December 27
