It is still, after all, the ‘marry month’ of June. Two important things come to mind in being a bride: wedding gown and make-up. Artistry, the prestige make-up brand of leading direct seller Amway, combined both when it held the launch of its two newest products: the Artistry Balancing Foundation and Hydrating Foundation. It held a fashion show featuring wedding gowns designed by celebrity couturier Francis Libiran, and brief make-up lessons from Victor Ortega whom we’ve had the pleasure of learning some make-up tricks before.

Francis Libiran has dressed up young celebrities Anne Curtis and Bea Alonzo and we certainly enjoyed viewing his 2010 wedding gown collection. I dunno if it was just the model-perfect, reed-thin physique of those women sashaying down the runway but Libiran’s gowns certainly looked immaculate. We loved his emphasis on sleek lines, bottom layering and free-flowing silhouettes.

Artistry’s chief make-up artist Victor Ortega (shown here with host Tessa Prieto-Valdes and a model) preached the gospel of applying foundation the right way. We must not be a make-up victim and apply foundation too much, he said

We still have to review the foundation bottle and skin products they gave us to try, but the new Artistry line holds much promise. It claims to be the only foundation products now with the highest SPF (at SPF 20) for sun protection. Price is only P1,400.

Artistry Balancing Foundation promises to banish shine and control oil for up to 12 hours while Artistry Hydrating Foundation maintains moisture levels for up to 8 hours. We like that both products intuitively match individual skin tones and contains formulation that helps shield against free radicals to combat the signs of premature aging.

Congratulations to Amway, and Artistry, for a successful launch!

One month and one week after getting married, the wedding hangover is still upon me. So I took time to visit the 14th edition of the Wedding Expo Philippines which ended yesterday at the PICC Forum. It was full of people and couples! You wouldn’t believe the number of lovebirds engaged or about to be wed in this part of the world. It proves a number of things: love rules and 2) weddings remain a big business in the country, which also assures that it’s as expensive as ever. Each move will cost you thousands, and that’s why it’s always advised to scout for the best, most reasonably-priced supplier. I can tell you it’s possible with a little bit of research and sleuthing.

In fact, I would tell my fellow brides out there not to limit themselves to these expos because not all suppliers join them. So it’s also good to depend on word-of-mouth, Googling and visiting your locality’s bargain havens.

What’s great about wedding fairs like W.E.P. is that the exhibitors really try to court you in terms of freebies and discounts just for booking them on your special day. We had fun munching on cake samples. There were also food tastings, free make-up sessions and the like.

Here are some pictures I took of the wedding fair:

A bridal car with Mickey and Minnie Mouse in it adds a unique touch from the usual bouquet of flowers pinned to the front of the car.

This is me playing around with the free photobooth from this company called Pose n’ Print. Photobooths are getting to be in-demand wedding souvenirs or reception fixtures….. obviously because guests love seeing their happy, funny faces.

This is me with Ms. Joy San Gabriel, the pastry chef who did our Tiffany Box wedding cake. She’s as busy as ever, and for good reason!

This wedding cake with the couple caker topper is certainly colorful and attractive.

A lot of wedding gowns, like these, were on display. All of the exhibitors prohibited taking pictures and I really don’t know why. Certainly they didn’t want unfair competition or their designs to be copied. Or maybe they don’t want other people to know they copied the designs, hehe. The rule against taking of pictures is really obsolete, considering that a lot of wedding gown designs are available on the internet and other sources

A jungle-inspired table arrangement. The table settings were what caught my eye the most, but am sure they were expensive too. I was definitely glad that our wedding’s over, and I wasn’t as harassed as the couples who inquired at the booths.
