Homebody Saturday

August 28, 2004 ·

Time was when Saturdays stood for my insecurities and fears. I had to go out.I had to be on the move.I had to be on a date, dine out, party the night away, have coffee with friends...till Sunday morning arrives and I would be wasted. I know I've mellowed and aged like wine when I feel comfortable in routines that will not necessarily land me on the Ms. Popularity List.Suddenly, going out is such a drag and even the thought of spending the day with Ryan Gosling will not budge me from my bed.It has taken me quite a while to realize that being alone does not make me ... The Fontana of our Youth

August 26, 2004 ·

Taken at the Pirates' Ship where the kids literally went wet and wild, originally uploaded by ajay. Before the heavy rains lashed Manila, I was fortunate enough to take the kids out to Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino in Pampanga's Clark Special Economic Zone. It was a sunny Sunday and there was hardly any traffic on the much-improved North Expressway. Our trip thus took only one and a half hours. As I found out, you shouldn't go to Fontana if your idea of adventure is plunging the depths of Tubbataha Reef. The resort has a lovely Water Park that is meant for kids. ... Continue Reading...

Austerity begins at home

August 25, 2004 ·

It is an old line but one worth biting just the same. The President's call to for everyone to practice austerity measures.Truth to tell, this message has an ironic tone to it. There is no more belt-tightening to impose on majority of Filipino income earners whose take-home pay is just enough to meet the family's basic needs. Some people are literally living from paycheck to paycheck and have even resorted to unscrupulous loan sharks to spend today what they could not possibly pay off tomorrow. If any, aus-te-ri-ty should resonate loud and clear to the bourgeois and ... Continue Reading...

Going Through Days

August 24, 2004 ·

Love is a gift I give unto myself. I may not be sure if someone loves me back, but it doesn't matter for true love is selfless. In nurturing this special affection, my soul sings, my heart goes into a happy dance and I am once again able to find poetry in everyday things:Sunshine reminds me of youWhen the noon's rays descend upon meAnd I am suddenly filled with heatfrom the passion of you...The rain makes me want you moreBecause it is coldAnd this kind of weatherMakes me want to stay indoors, curled up in the depths of your soulI welcome the sunshineKnowing that on ... As Hot as Tom Yam

August 23, 2004 ·

Jan Dara massages Khun with ice cubes, originally uploaded by ajay.I watched this movie over the weekend for two reasons: I like foreign films (read: not from Hollywood) and because the blurb screamed Asia's Erotic Phenomenon. The synopsis: Jan Dara is set in the moody and turbulent Thailand of the 1930s. Jan Dara is a Thai young man whose earliest memories are that of his own father having sex with his childhood nanny. In this lopsided and obsessive world, he was cast out of his comfortable but troubled household at the age of 13 after his stepsister accused him of ... Continue Reading...
