Two new offerings in the consumer market that are worth looking into: SkyCable’s iRecord and Sony Internet TV.
The Digibox iRecord heralds the arrival of personal video recording in the Philippines that was all the rage in the US. It consists of a PVR set up top box in a sleek silver color, a remote control and cables that are necessary to connect the PVR to the television set. The 320-gig hard drive can store up to 145 hours of Standard Video (SD) or 86 hours of High Definition (HD) video.
SkyCable’s latest innovative product offers a host of functions. The record mode gives on-the-spot and future recording of one’s favorite TV shows, with one-time, daily, weekly, and monthly options. You can also record up to two shows simultaneously while watching a third one. Features like slow-motion and frame-by-frame playback lets one review the whole action in detail. It can also help the viewer bookmark scenes or parts, loop favorite programs and create folders per program or per person in the household.
The time-shifting mode, on the other hand, enables the viewer to pause a program while it is airing, do another activity and then resume where he or she left off.
