We had fun attending the launch of SM Hypermarket Street Food Festival 2018 in the Mall of Asia last August 24. For those not familiar, this is the biggest street food festival in the indoor setting and we like this because we not only get to sample truly Pinoy culinary delights but we also get great discounts and freebies from top brands participating. Highly recommended to all budget-conscious moms and shoppers out there who want to get value for their money.
SM Street Food Fest has since done the rounds in different locations, namely SM City Clark on September 1-2, SM City Baliwag on September 15-16, and SM City Fairview on September 29-30. The festival will unravel in SM Center Pulilan on October 12-14, before the grand finale on November 2-3, to be held again at SM Mall of Asia. We urge you not to miss this forthcoming big event. So many exciting things to expect:
FOOD TRIP GALORE
As many of you know by now, the Hypermarket is the home of the ultra-affordable SM Eats where they sell the popular Turon with Langka, cheesy corn, ginataan bilo-bilo, cheap rice meals, kwek-
kwek, lumpiang toge, siopao sarap and soft-serve Ube Ice Cream.
To add to all this, SM Street Food Fest goes all out with over 50 food stalls offering yummy street food from favorites like Ilocos empanada, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, grilled liempo, leche flan, sisig, boneless bangus, lumpiang shanghai, lechon, burgers, shabu-shabu, pizza, pasta, banana cue, saba con hielo, shawarma, crispy crablets, gambas, kakanin, nachos, chicharon….the list goes on and on. We love how this event is showcasing and supporting local food sellers. Just go from booth to booth and you will have an idea of the different specialties of the various regions.
But actually, shoppers get more rewards in the kiosks of the big food brands like Nestle, San Miguel, Unilever, Alaska, Century Tuna, Mekeni, Del Monte, P&G, Monde, Bounty Fresh, Farm Fresh and CDO, among others.
These brands offered special food packs with discounts or Buy One, Take One offers. One can also get their fill of food and drink samples.
COOKING DEMOS, CELEBRITIES & MORE
With every SM Street food fest, celebrity chefs like the Kusina Master himself, Chef Boy Logro and Chef Jose Sarasola as well
as the Philippines’ biggest brands’ sous chefs are lined up to have cooking demos where they will share creative ways in using everyday ingredients. They will also show exciting twists on favorite products guaranteed to bring much needed variety to the dinner table.
During the MOA launch, we spotted model & celeb Daniel Matsunaga taking the time to have a selfie with his fans. Other in-demand personalities are scheduled for the roadshows where the shoppers can interact with them and take home exciting prizes.
Once again dear shoppers, mark November 2-3 on your calendars for the finale of the SM Hypermarket Street Food Fest 2018. It will surely not be your ordinary food festival!
