Strange things happened on the way to Kota Kinabalu..

January 21, 2007 ·

self-portrait Just got back from my marathon two-day, two-night trip to Kota Kinabalu. And photo shows me taking a self-portrait in my hotel room before hitting the tub on a Tuesday night. Anyway, two things happened to me on this trip: One: after telling to me book and pay for our tickets a few months before, my KL travel companion cancelled at the last minute, and all because she was waiting for payola from some Thai highroller Can't believe she can do that, but rather than let her odd mean behavior dampen me, life has to go on. At least I was ... Continue Reading...

Thai food so good! @ People’s Palace Greenbelt

December 7, 2006 ·

People's Palace chow There is something about Thai food. Yes, there is something about it. There is something about Asian food in general which mesmerizes me like no burger or pasta can. And it doesn't matter whether it's Vietnamese, Japanese, Singaporean or Malaysian.. the cuisine of Asia simply rocks. Thankfully, I had to attend two consecutive presscons at the People's Palace in Greenbelt to rediscover Thai food again. I've heard about this place when it was still in Malate but somehow never got the chance to visit. The whole resto is bathed ... Continue Reading...

What I want for my xx birthday

October 26, 2006 ·

It's almost the end of the month, the time of the year when there's the urge to deny my failures, my blunders, my inconsistencies, and my real age (hehe);when hope springs eternal and I once again make resolutions (because after all, it costs nothing to make one) and I believe against belief, hope against hope, in the crap friends tell me that like wine, I am getting better (not bitter) with age. Yes, it also costs me nothing to believe in this crap, as well as the time-worn cliche that age is a state of mind. Because age is a state of mind, I will believe that I will ... Continue Reading...

To break up is to make up … your life!

October 4, 2006 ·

Is it life or is it just the weather but I don't understand why, three months into Christmas, this seems to be a season of break-ups among my circle of friends. And as you can very well imagine, nothing can be more heart-rending. Take for example Friend A who's given it all in a relationship which appears to be one-way. She was the one who broke it off but now she wants to take it back, reasoning out that she can never live without him. We try to tell her that "God will send you someone better in his own time" even though we know it's an exercise in futility ... Continue Reading...

Worse thing that happened

September 30, 2006 ·

It's day three of no water, no electricity in our house. We've stepped out of the comforts of the hotel already. My very young son couldn't help but say in his usual candid way. "This is the worst thing that's happened in my life!" "What about you mom, what's the worst thing that happened to you?," he queries. ... Continue Reading...
