Face-to-face with world bowling champion Paeng Nepomuceno

June 26, 2009 ·

I still have to personally meet Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao, but I was certainly glad to mingle face-to-face with Paeng Nepomuceno who, in his heyday, brought pride to the country by being a World Bowling Champion SIX TIMES. Still lithe and limber at 52, Paeng is pushing for a different advocacy. he's now working to include bowling as an Olympic sport, starting with the 2012 London Olympics. "Bowling is truly an Olympic sport. It entails mental and physical precision, superior hand-eye coordination, unwavering muscle memory and tremendous stamina and endurance," says ... Yes to Pacquiao, the boxer; no to Pacquiao, the politician….

May 5, 2009 ·

My Facebook status says it all: why would Manny Pacquiao run for congressman.... why? It is something that continues to confound me, two days after Pacman, the greatest Pinoy boxer who ever lived, smashed to smithereens the British pug Ricky Hatton. The obviousness of Pacquiao's political intentions is signified by the formation of his political party People's Champ Movement and his introduction in the Las Vegas boxing ring as being from Sarangani province where he's touted to run next, after being beaten in the last elections in his hometown of General Santos ... I'll go by the one where we have a lot of mutual friends :D Not to be outdone is Among Ed Panlilio, the likeliest of the unlikely candidates. ... Continue Reading...

Face-to-face with BB Gandanghari: out with the old, in with the new

March 14, 2009 ·

A lot of girls had a crush with Rustom Padilla, way back when he was younger and married to Carmina Villaroel. I admit I found him attractive too. Here's an old picture: It was in 2003 that he came to full realization that he was gay and it wasn't until 2006 or so that he admitted publicly about his orientation. Fast forward to 2009 and everybody's talking about the birth of a new woman. Gone with Rustom, in with BB Gandanghari: Pictures from the bloggers' Meet and Greet with BB at mag:net Bonifacio High Street today. ... Continue Reading...

Brian Gorrell: the official mini-interview

March 18, 2008 ·

Brian Gorrell has proved that blogging is therapy, you don't need a shrink. Still, there appears to be still a lot of pent-up anger and revelations that will be unveiled in his blog which has gripped Manila society by storm. Here, he replies to some of our questions begging to be answered. And okay, this will be the last of it! Q. Your blog has become the most talked-about in town, what made you write it? Brian: I wrote the blog out of sheer desperation. I was ignored for so long by so many people in Manila. No one cared that I had my entire life's savings ... Continue Reading...
