Why people like travelling to China

October 29, 2010 ·

(Note: Guest post by Mr. Nick Steele) Photo credit: Viking River Cruises website China is consistently among the most popular tourist destinations and, every year, tourists flock to this amazing country on land tours and cruises. But why? For some travelers, China seems very exotic, particularly in comparison with western countries, and they travel there to see a culture that is vastly different than their own. For others, it’s the fact that this civilization has thrived for thousands of years…much longer than those of Europe and even of the Americas. And last, ... Continue Reading...

Secure Flight program for passengers flying in and out of US

October 18, 2010 ·

Remember this piece of news the next time you plan your travel to the United States (via delta.com) " To enhance the security of commercial air travel, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has developed Secure Flight, a program that compares airline passenger information against U.S. government watch lists. As part of this program, you've had the option in the past to provide your full name, gender and date of birth when booking. Boracay in Trip Advisor’s Top 10 Sun & Beach Destinations in the World

September 26, 2010 ·

I love, love reading Trip Advisor reviews. In fact, making published notes of all the hotels I've stayed in (all-expenses paid and those I paid for!) is high on my must-do list. I just dig how guests become so candid, if a service dissatisfies them, or how they glow with praises if they're happy with their accommodations. When somebody writes " their rooms are disgusting DO NOT WEAR BEAR FOOT>>>>STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL BY ALL MEANS..." (quote unquote) you just gotta believe them :D And having a positive review on Trip Advisor should be what every well-meaning hotel ... Continue Reading...

Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan

September 21, 2010 ·

If you go to Taiwan, don't just linger in Taipei. Make an effort to ride their high-speed trains and wander in the outskirts where one can marvel in Taiwan's countryside beauty. Sun Moon Lake in Nantou County was particularly beautiful and as charming as its name. I would recommend it for couples taking their honeymoon, or people just wanting some peace and quiet. Let these pictures speak for itself: View of the harbor where well maintained yachts are kept - View from our hotel room - ... Continue Reading...

How to apply for a Taiwan visa

September 18, 2010 ·

One of the things that made my recent overseas trip harder than usual was compiling documentary requirements for the Taiwan visa. The last time I did so was for a trip to Japan in 2005. I've also gotten so used to travelling around Southeast Asia where getting around (luckily) doesn't require a visa for Filipinos. You need to have patience and attention to details when completing your visa requirements and also make sure - first and foremost - that your Philippine passport does not expire in six months, otherwise you may not be able to travel. The good news: if you ... Continue Reading...
