Even though China has put a mark on its new passports stating its territorial claim over the South China Sea (ouch!), this hasn't prevented us from looking at their new products in the market. Let's begin with the ubiquitous cellphones. Launched yesterday was the Ascend D1 quad XL, a quadcore smartphone running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich (version 4) which promises speed, power and long battery life. What makes this high-end phone worth looking into is its good price point: only P18,000 for something that delivers turbo-charged computer prowess in your pocket. ... Continue Reading...
Nokia apps: my Top 5
Nokia was the first cellphone I ever used and with the inception of mobile apps in the free market, they've come a long way. A few months ago, I got the chance to review the dual-SIM Nokia Asha 202 phone and I had fun trying out some of the applications. The Finnish brand is still one of the best there is for ease of use and the same holds true when you access their modern smartphones for games, information and the like. Here are the top (read:favorite) apps I used in the Nokia: MMDA or the Metro Manila Development Authority app (Rating: 5/5) What can I say. ... Continue Reading...
Having fun with Instagram

Unfortunately, I wasn't in front of the computer when it happened so I just got messages from concerned friends telling me that they think my Twitter was hacked. Apparently, I was sending them messages that looked like this one: I researched online and found out that this is the so-called Direct Message (DM) phishing scam. A lot of people have sent me the same hacking DMs before and I unknowingly ... Continue Reading...

Headphones are probably one of the most in-demand items right now, and more so that the holiday season is fast approaching. I can think of one person to give the device to: my teenage boy who always has to have something on his ear for to listen to music on his phone, watching Youtube, and even while biking. The past year has made me familiar with headphones as I road-tested one brand to another. Good thing there's competition. At this rate, we can only expect better products and features. The Aiaiai Tracks headphone is the latest to fall on my lap.I hardly can ... Continue Reading...
