At the launch of Samsung's new line of notebooks & netbooks today, I was interested to find that their laptops now go with the Phoenix FailSafe anti-theft software. This is quite a nifty feature, considering that theft is always a possibility in these parts and has even cost the life of some :( In this earlier post, I wrote about how we plunked in an additional $40 for the Undercover tool for my Mac, so that it gets traceable when stolen. Methinks anti-theft software will be a requisite feature of laptops in the future. Good thing that Samsung notebooks are highly ... Continue Reading...
Cherry Mobile new handsets & Trident, the first triple SIM phone
Fast-rising telecommunications company Cherry Mobile invited us to an event last Saturday and I went, partially to satisfy my curiosity about today's top teen stars Kim Chiu and John Lloyd Cruz. Awwww. Kim and Lloidy, as seen through my lens: John Lloyd was muy simpatico while Kim was pretty and oh-so-thin. I wonder how much they're being paid to endorse Cherry Mobile. It's a win-win situation actually. Cherry can benefit from top movie star endorsements, even as it firms up its grip on the lucrative mobile phone market. I have three officemates who own ... Samsung Galaxy S debuts in the Philippines, free at Globe Plan 2499 for July only!
Models Raya Mananquil , Isabel Roces and Valerie De los Santos are a sight to behold, but even more of an eye candy is the smartphone they're holding: the much-touted Samsung Galaxy S which made its debut in the Philippines today. Something about the Samsung Galaxy S specifications make it the "must have" gadget of the season. I certainly drooled the first time I held it in my hands. Its enviable feature set includes: super sleek form factor, 4-inch super AMOLED touchscreen, HD video capability, powerful 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, internal ... Continue Reading...
Neo affordable notebooks
I know of some friends who own Neo notebooks. Before the other brands slashed their prices to make laptops affordable to the masses, there was Neo. I was even more surprised to learn that it's an all-Filipino brand. I was glad to be invited to a press briefing last week where Neo executives unveiled their latest offerings. According to their price list, the cheapest netbook that can be had is their Basic B3233 which is available for P14,999 cash. Its more powerful variant, the B3230 has such specifications as the Intel Atom N450 (Pinetrail platform), 2 GB of ... Continue Reading...
’tis the season for new netbooks from Samsung, ASUS
Am a newbie to netbooks. But when my beloved Mac underwent major repairs recently (all free courtesy of the AppleCare warranty), I had to get a standby, supplementary laptop. My choice is the pretty & dainty HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje. Never mind if it's not the newest model in the market. I like its all-white, feminine form, the tactile keyboard, Windows 7 Starter pack and amazing six-cell battery life. It's a reliable baby, and I've learned the meaning of carrying your lappy for mobility's sake. It's so light at 1.06 kilos :D However, I've also attended a ... Continue Reading...
