Manilans just can’t have enough of their coffee! Just when you think there’s all kinds of coffee chains around, the UK’s No. 1 Costa Coffee has arrived to infuse their London-style way of enjoying our favorite beverage.
I missed the opening of their maiden store in Eastwood City so I made sure I was there for the unveiling of the second branch in Robinsons Place Manila. Luckily, it’s just a few minutes walk from our workplace.
Lots of people lined up during opening day. There was a promo going on that awarded free coffee for one year for the first 10 customers and only two pesos on the second cup for everyone… yay!
We had a photo op with Robina Gokongwei-pe who is the big boss of Costa Coffee Philippines. It seems the Robinsons Group is fond of bringing British brands to the Philippines like Warehouse, Topshop, Miss Selfriedge and now Costa. When I asked Robina about this, she said in humble fashion: “Wala, good vibrations lang.”
British Ambassador Asif Ahmad was also there, along with the managing director of Costa Coffee headquarters, Mr. Chris Rogers…
The interiors in Costa Coffee Robinsons Manila are really homey and eyecatching. You’d love to hang out here, but so far the place has been jampacked.
I love that they have lots of glossy magazines lying around which you can enjoy while you sip your fave drink. In this case, there’s the house-recommended Flat White (P150) which is notable for its velvety, creamy texture.
Friendly prices on the food. This tuna sandwich on ciabatta bread for only P130.
The BBQ porkloin sandwich was filling and yummy!
The Asian noodle salad can be your lunch because it has enough chunks of sliced chicken breast 🙂
A must-try is Costa’s line-up of delicious desserts to satisfy the sweet tooth. Bars, cookies, cakes and cheesecakes. Ask the server for their bestsellers.
Aside from their handcrafted, exquisite coffee, Costa’s menu has teas, hot chocolate, frostino and fruit coolers. But I like to keep it simple by just having lemonade. It’s so refreshing and a must-try when you’re around.
