The Genting Star Tourism Academy is the hospitality training school of Travellers International which operates Resorts World in the Philippines. Late last year, we had the chance to visit their facilities in Newport City in Pasay. Ms. Dyan Fernandez, senior manager for business development, led our media group through a tour of the institution which is located on the second floor of the Star Cruises Center. After the oversupply of nursing students - some of whom have found themselves jobless and unable to leave the country, until the next demand wave occurs - culinary courses are getting to be the next popular choice. I know of a lot of friends whose sons or daughters want to go to culinary school. One of the reasons is probably the field's glamorization brought about by the rise of celebrity chefs (think Jamie Oliver) and reality competition shows like Top Chef.
