When prime rib is better than sex

September 17, 2004 ·

My workload has consumed me this week and so it was such a relief when the presentation we were slaving on for days on end was finally delivered by our COO before congressmen and their staff at a hotel last night. It was interesting to see the country's legislators glued to the widescreen in the hotel ballroom as my dear agency appealed for our franchise extension. I feel good at being a part of a patriotic mission to secure the future of my 11,000 or so fellow employees. We need our jobs beyond 2008 and this country in dire straits also needs the billions in revenues ... Continue Reading...

Net illusions

September 5, 2004 ·

My online friend Paul, a surfer from Hawaii in search of an Asian woman to settle down with, is aghast at the fact that he keeps on falling for fag hags in cyberspace. He doesn't know it until somebody tells him they are. Paul tells me the first time, the girl he was seriously chatting with, turned up on this site. Last week, he excitedly tells me, there's a new girl he's fond of who comes from Southern Philippines and "is really good-looking." He sends me the pics (I am glad to be a juror of his choices)and as soon as it downloads, I study it and say ... Continue Reading...

White is a neutral color

August 30, 2004 ·

On a lull from my writing tasks today, I hang around in the women's CR and noticed speckles of white on my hair which I thought was dandruff but on closer inspection turned out to be white hair. Not one but several!Honestly, I am not scared. The white strands of hair appear to have gloriously settled on my crowning glory and I am not having the perverse joy of coloring them brown or orange anytime soon. Here are my thoughts on the matter:White hair is better than no hair.White hair is my badge of wisdom. They stand for the incredible experiences I've had in life which I ... Continue Reading...

Homebody Saturday

August 28, 2004 ·

Time was when Saturdays stood for my insecurities and fears. I had to go out.I had to be on the move.I had to be on a date, dine out, party the night away, have coffee with friends...till Sunday morning arrives and I would be wasted. I know I've mellowed and aged like wine when I feel comfortable in routines that will not necessarily land me on the Ms. Popularity List.Suddenly, going out is such a drag and even the thought of spending the day with Ryan Gosling will not budge me from my bed.It has taken me quite a while to realize that being alone does not make me ... Austerity begins at home

August 25, 2004 ·

It is an old line but one worth biting just the same. The President's call to for everyone to practice austerity measures.Truth to tell, this message has an ironic tone to it. There is no more belt-tightening to impose on majority of Filipino income earners whose take-home pay is just enough to meet the family's basic needs. Some people are literally living from paycheck to paycheck and have even resorted to unscrupulous loan sharks to spend today what they could not possibly pay off tomorrow. If any, aus-te-ri-ty should resonate loud and clear to the bourgeois and ... Continue Reading...
