The blogging doctor TessTermulo over at Prudence and Madness asks me some questions that matter: Q. What are the 5 books that made great impact in your life? In search of the strongest coffee
greekcoffee. My job is almost cushy save for the fact that it requires me to work on the graveyard shift for a few days every three weeks. I dread it when it comes knowing that my body is conditioned to doze off, 2 a.m. at the latest. Early on, my mom determined I could not be a lawyer no matter how I wanted to take the course post-college. She knew I would simply sleep through all those books and documents. It is therefore ironic that I'd find myself in a job which miraculously teems with life 24/7. Six o'clock in the morning and there are still ... Continue Reading...
Post-SM holdup robbery: security measures that don’t mean a thing
SM bomb sniffing dawg. Was riding the taxi from the domestic airport yesterday when I heard this piece of news on the radio: armed men stormed two banks located inside the sprawling SM mall in Fairview carting away an undetermined amount of cash... The radio report certainly reminded me that I was back to the organized chaos of Manila after breathing fresh country air. At home. Blogger: Flexible hours. Journalist: ... Continue Reading...
Holy Week, and Manila is a ‘ghostland’…
I don't understand why people insist on going out of Manila at this time...though it is exactly for these same folks going out that I get to enjoy being left here when there's no traffic,no noisy vendors and no commuters jostling each other. I imagine that Manila during the Holy Week was like the 60s when the city's population didn't yet balloon to millions and the local transportation office didn't yet give permits to every pesky jeepney and tricycle that applied to run the block. This is exactly what I wish the city to be, less of course the dirt, the pollution and ... Continue Reading...
