Warning: blogging hazards ahead

February 5, 2006 ·

Blogspot is down and blog friend Manuel alludes to the uncontrollable invasion of comment spam among some Pinoy blogs. This site has not been immune from comment spam too, but what's a tech idiot like me supposed to do when harangued by "penis enlargement pills" on my dashboard? Even now as I write, I am besieged with strange names like Jousson Hgkan, Maximilian Zierer, Sabine List, Olivia Raga and what have you. It's either I install a password system or turn off comments like what most people are doing. All these hassles make me wonder if the great WWW is out ... Continue Reading...

’10 Things About Blogging in 2006′

January 23, 2006 ·

Here's the condensed version of my Manila Bulletin Blog-O-Rama column today on "10 Things About Blogging in 2006:" 1. Blogging is here to stay but the excitement will be leveling off. Blogging will no longer be viewed as a novelty and will create less of a buzz as it did two years ago. It will continue to become a widespread and accepted online activity. I am just lazily surfing while on my shift in this dead hour of the morning when I noticed my stats counter.... 39 peeps online?? Shucks, this can't be true. So I check my Wordpress control panel to verify the culprit and find a direct link to Instapundit which is just like ... one of the most famous blogs in the universe :D Here is Prof. Glenn Reynolds' short mention about me which was enough to drive up my relatively pathetic blog traffic: "ANNALYN HAS A CELLPHONE with a built-in flashlight. Great for power failures. In Nigeria, actually, people favor phones ... Continue Reading...

Blogger’s Block

September 30, 2005 ·

I don't think it's a very long absence but the inevitable thing has happened to me the past week: experiencing a bad case of "blogger's block." Akin to mental block and our very own writer's block, blogger's block is my inability to write anything of value. Despite the fact that I've got a lot of "pending stories" and so many thoughts are running in my head, I'm at a total loss for words (well, except for this one.) I guess this happens many times once in a blogger's life. My only consolation is that you can never call yourself a full-fledged blogging bug ... Continue Reading...

A Bloggers’ Eyeball in Tokyo

September 12, 2005 ·

memories 2 Originally uploaded by annalyn. During my visit to Tokyo last week, meeting my fellow blog friends who are based in the Land of the Rising Sun was high on my agenda. After all, we have this Blogkadahan network whose Filipino members are located not only in Asia but also the US, Europe and New Zealand. It has become a tradition for us to meet whenever a fellow Blogkada goes into town to visit, and the meeting comes complete with the exchange of little gifts, dinner and of course, loads of engaging conversation. I was therefore filled with ... Continue Reading...
