Back from the vacation (… & a few realizations)

March 27, 2006 ·

I have to admit that like most Pinoys, I've toyed with the idea of leaving this seemingly godforsaken country. But the desperation is not so great as to make me make the Big Move yet. My friends argue that you could work day and night and not own a house in RP whereas you could easily own a car and other comforts in a country like America. However, I think there are things here which I wouldn't exchange for any other nirvana in the world. For instance, I wouldn't trade our glorious weather and the infectious laughter of our people for any of those high-tech appliances ... Continue Reading...

Men Loving Other Men

March 22, 2006 ·

(Author's Note: I have gazillions of published articles and have kept about half of them. I thought this old article was interesting enough to be recopied in this blog, in the light of my recent post on 'Brokeback Mountain' and the subject of sexuality. When love falls out of the window…

March 10, 2006 ·

Could you really be meant for one person for the rest of your life? I ask this now as an impartial bystander who has to contend with impatient complaints from my friends about their marriages, how routine the sex life has become (if it ever exists at all), how tempting the idea of an illicit affair is, or how earth-shaking it is, if it's in full steam already. ... Brokeback May As Well Have Been Breakheart

March 7, 2006 ·

brokeback Originally uploaded by annalyn. Watched Brokeback Mountain last Sunday and Crash scored an Academy Award upset since. I have not watched the latter yet but I remember the former for its memorable line "I wish I knew how to quit you." Hmmm, how many times have we said this to our most tempting vices, ranging from coffee, to cigarets to casinos or simply that beguiling lover who rocked our world? ... Continue Reading...
