toast box laksa. I was quite excited when Anton over at Our Awesome Planet made a post about the opening of Singapore chain Toast Box in Trinoma. I love these cozy kopi tiams and so made it a point to head over to faraway QC when the opportunity arose just to taste what they had to offer. My officemate and I ordered a few items from the menu and I must say the best thing about Toast Box is not the toast but their laksa. Laksa is a popular soup in Malaysia and Singapore made of flat hofan noodles. The creaminess of the coconut milk combines with the ... Continue Reading...
Food-tripping in Macau..almost
Lord Stow's cafe. One of the reasons I went to Macau was to indulge in a food trip. But I believe I did more walking and seeing the sights than e-a-t, especially after busting what little budget I had on shopping in Zhuhai. I suppose there is now an exciting food scene in Macau because of the casinos and the arrival of different cultures there. But the old reliables of Portuguese and Macanese cuisine are still there and what you're bound to see is a country that delights in its food, especially sweets and pastries. Any visitor to Macau would have to ... Continue Reading...
Sugarnot has a blog…. and the healthiest treats too!
In my last column, I did say how nice it would be if local companies included some cool blogging in their websites. Just to remind us that there some human where those neat HTML codes are. To paraphrase again: " Corporate blogging can give companies direct access to their customers, generate genuine feedback and give the business a human face, thus generating trust from its consumers." In the course of my net-surfing, guess what I found but the hip website of sugar-free resto Sugarnot with some one-of-a-kind blogging by : a doctor, a physical therapist, a ... Continue Reading...
Surely you can do this at home – Kopi Roti’s choco milk toast & Indonesian martabak
Kopi Roti Milk Toast One of the good things about dining out is that you get inspired to cook up stuff at home just because of a food you ate and tasted. Take for example Kopi Roti which I never fail to frequent when am at MOA. It has always been my favorite because of their kopi bun and their kopi with milk is the closest thing to my heaven on earth. Their kaya toast has lately been lacking in kaya but it's still good. Recently, Kopi Roti introduced their assorted toasts - namely the classic milk toast and the milk toast with chocolate. It's one of ... Continue Reading...
Afternoon tea at Bizu, China Palace and other dining treats at MOA
The kids and I have been hanging out of late in Mall of Asia, or MOA in local parlance. Unlike before, I have finally mastered the in's and out's of this gigantic place... but one wing only :P Eating out in any of the restaurants facing the bay is simply superb, parking is free on the boulevard and you will never run out of shops to choose from. There will surely be more people when SM opens its convention center on the other end which is three or four times the size of Makati's World Trade Center. Then, am also excited what the science discovery centrum has to offer ... Continue Reading...
