Shabu-shabu high

September 10, 2004 ·

Hotpot Hapones. This photo probably doesn't give justice to the delicious lunch I had today. But at 11:30 this morning, I felt this intense craving for some filling soup..not nilaga or sinigang but shabu-shabu. Thankfully, I was able to convince my officemates to go with me and try this place near our new office building, the Lau Chan Hotpot on Mabini St. You know the place is authentic because it is simply teeming with the Chinese who gulp their soup with so much gusto, you can almost see them sweat.I thought shabu-shabu is Korean but is originally Japanese and ... Diet is an Alien Word

August 17, 2004 ·

I've been going to buffet lunches for two days in a row and I feel....FULL.It's hard to resist these things when your boss tags you along as part of your corporate duties. I can't complain. I love to eat but at the same time,I admire vegans who survive on celery sticks for dinner. I simply cannot imagine myself being in that situation. My food philosophy is to indulge what Life feeds you on the silver platter. I don't want to receive my Last Rites thinking of the Ribeye Steak and Nicoise Salad I should have had, all because of that magic word which is the obsession of ... Continue Reading...

Pigout

August 8, 2004 ·

Have you ever tried tasting 20 different kinds of food in 30 minutes? Amazing but true, and we do just that every year at the World Food Expo. Even though am not from the food industry, I make sure I take my annual dose of Wofex because it's Manila's ultimate foodie event - a whole pavilion of booths showcasing the latest food offerings, culinary trends, kitchen equipment and cooking demos.Even though I decide to do it alone, I bump into Mark of the Inquirer who also kept bumping into other people, including this action star who is now a food franchisee. People were ... Continue Reading...
