Carbonara is the new comfort food! Just like the sweet-style Pinoy spaghetti, we have our own way of appreciating carbonara in these islands: saucy, milky, and flavorful. No egg yolk required! :) Yesterday was a special day. I told the nanny not to cook for lunch because something special would be arriving in our doorstep. And out came the friendly delivery guy bringing a whole pan of Creamy Carbonara from Greenwich Pizza! The kids were thrilled because they love this pasta. Greenwich makes an excellent version that is generously mixed with ham, bacon, cheese ... Continue Reading...

Union Jack Tavern & a Full English Pizza recipe
Our recent staycation in Alabang was very productive. I was able to discover new places and food haunts. One of these is the Union Jack Tavern on the second level of Festival Mall. It's a spacious and homey British pub that one doesn't expect to find in a mall. The ambiance is nice, service is friendly and they serve great Indian & British food... definitely a must-visit if you are like me who gets sentimental about Europe! ;) The place appears to be popular with the foreign community in this part of Manila. That Sunday, it was full of diners who were there for ... Continue Reading...

Pinoys aren't really a pie-eating people. I don't mean pizza but PIE. We love our burgers, pastas, steaks, noodles, adobo...but pies? The nearest thing to what I'm referring to is probably our empanada but it's different in terms of texture & shape and is more Spanish than anything. Pies are a another matter in Australia because it's akin to being a national dish. It's a good thing that one of the leading pie-makers Down Under has set up shop in Manila, with their maiden branch in MOA or the Mall of Asia. And the name is Pie Face... As you can see, they don't ... Continue Reading...
