Finally, The Bistro Group - which owns and operates renowned foreign franchises TGI Friday's and Italianni's (among others) - has a Filipino theme restaurant and it goes by the name Smokin' Hot BBQ . The resto is an original concept by the Bistro Group under the culinary stewardship of young executive chef Josh Boutwood (in middle of photo, walking). We were lucky enough to be one of the first to try their offerings at their maiden location in Greenbelt 3. I have to say the initial impression is very good - from the presentation or plating to the taste of the ... Continue Reading...
Holy Week 2013: a baked salmon recipe
Holy Week is a big ritual in the Philippines. Catholics usually practice visita iglesia or a visit to at least seven churches. Some even go to the extreme of having themselves nailed to the cross. Most normal folks practice penitence (remorse for one's sins) by fasting and avoiding meat. Hence, Holy Week usually sees the prices of fish and seafood go up! I love salmon that's why we always have this in stock in our household. The trick is to keep and freeze some for the rainy days or whenever you need it. In this case, Holy Week! Nothing but veggies and fish during ... Continue Reading...
Buddha Bar Manila
Buddha-Bar is an international bar and restaurant chain found in cosmopolitan cities like Paris, Monte Carlo, Prague and Dubai. But it is the one in Manila that is a must-visit because it is the biggest Buddha bar in the world! The MNL location, found in Picar Place, Kalayaan Avenue, Makati is truly massive and seven star!! I guess the only thing that works against it is that it is out of the way from where the hip social set normally gather in Greenbelt or the Fort ... but maybe this is all intentional ... As usual, it was my toddler Lucy and yaya who received the package from the messenger. They purposely didn't open it till I arrived from work and honestly I was guessing what could it be: pizza? chicken? pasta? A smile crossed my face when I found out the samples were of my favorite Greenwich lasagna in party trays. The dish is something I always order from their menu so imagine my relief at not ... Alpenliebe Candy: smooth, silky & creamy
As a blogger, am lucky enough to be a recipient of home deliveries - from fried chicken to J.Co Donuts and even household products. There are rare times, however, when the courier comes in full costume. I remember one time when my youngest daughter Lucia got scared of Incredible Hulk.A few weeks ago, there was a tall & pretty girl in Swiss costume who arrived at the gate carrying a wooden bucket.I was unfortunately in the office. Home alone (again) were Lucia and her yaya-since-birth. (photo courtesy of Bright Idea Events Management) Our perky toddler ... Continue Reading...
