Even though it's online, Spot.ph has come out with a hard copy version (in booklet form) of its Top 10 Everything Food Lists. In a nutshell,it's all about the different kinds of food that's tops in the heart of spot.ph editors and contributors. I have to say that Top 10 lists are always hard to make. Oftentimes, they're subjective; tastes vary from one person to another. But I have to agree, and just consider myself lucky, to have tried some items from their list. Although it's a shame that I live in Paranaque and still have to try Maty's. Must go soon! :D Some ... Continue Reading...
Indulgence by Irene quezo de bola cheesecake
While selling at the annual bazaar Best Food Forward, a nice little red box took my breath away. Just a look at the little logo and I knew that this was the quezo de bola cheesecake other bloggers had been talking about: Indulgence by Irene. The name is sweet, but the taste is even sweeter. This is a really good cheesecake: dense and with the rich texture of indulgent quezo de bola (probably where it got its name from). The last quezo de bola I tasted was really cakey, like mamon, sponge cake or (gasp!) bibingka. It's pretty obvious that Irene knows how to make ... Continue Reading...

Whether you're an expert cook or a kitchen novice, it teaches us how to explore the many ways by which pasta can make your meals wonderful. ... Continue Reading...
Tous Les Jours Korean bakery
All right, there's a seeming Korean invasion in Manila's commercial scene, and if you include our President's love life, that's a double whammy! :) Along with Korean groceries, Korean bakeries are also sprouting up in select places and the most famous among them is the international franchise Tous Les Jours. What it means I really don't know (too tired to Google, at this point). Maybe Koreans, like Filipinos, also have a colonial mentality. For how else can you put a French name on a Korean bakery? It escapes me ;) But I wasn't complaining, the moment I saw these ... Continue Reading...
Before Magnum ice cream, there was…..
my favorite treats from the Korean grocery! I can't read the label but I just know they're good. Exhibit A is what I'd call "Fish Be With You" which is priced for only P35 in my suki Korean grocery. The makers were sweet enough to shape this ice cream like a fish. The best thing about this is its portability. You can actually hold the ice cream sans the wrapper because the crispy wafer holds it all together. And when you bite, crunchy meets creamy vanilla. The clincher is the addition of my favorite azuki (red) beans. I really love azuki in my mochi, ... Continue Reading...
