We were thrilled to be part of the J.Co experience yesterday as the donut brand opened its first flagship store at The Strip in Megamall Bldg B. The store was filled to the brim with celebrities and guests. Oh-so-delicious donuts were generously distributed for everyone to try, with matching drinks to boot. Our verdict: this coffeeshop chain which originated in Indonesia is sure to be a hit in dessert-crazy Manila. Particularly as they also have yogurt with different kinds of toppings and the widest assortment of beverages... both hot and cold. Oooh la ... Continue Reading...
Chicken Delish @ Midnight Mercato Wednesdays
It's all systems go as far as my fried chicken brand is concerned ;) In fact, I've opened my first store front in Caltex Better Living (more on that later). Am setting my sights on Project: Retire from the Corporate Jungle early on, and of course fulfill my wish of seeing my youngest daughter Lucia's growing up years. Going into business (where I can have my own time) is proving to be an irresistible option. And guess what? I still love selling in the weekend markets. Make it weekday since you can find me at Midnight Mercato Wednesdays now (at least for the next few ... Continue Reading...
Yoshinoya’s new super bowls!
Yes, the Yoshinoya fastfood chain is still alive and kicking...in Manila, that is. Recently, we trooped to their Robinsons Galleria branch for a preview of their great-tasting new dishes. Here is one place to satiate your hunger with just one bowl... make it super bowl! :) The Tokyo Beef Bowl stakes Yoshinoya's claim of being the king of the beef bowls. This was everybody's favorite because of the tender, flavorful thin slices of beef which was further enhanced by ample slices of onion and capsicum. For the health conscious, Yoshinoya’s Veggie Beef has ... Continue Reading...
Magnum ice cream is here!
First of all, I was curious to know what Magnum was. The last time we heard, a gun and (ehrmmm...) large-sized condoms were also called Magnum. I didn't know how hugely popular Magnum ice cream was in other countries. Hubby said he ate it in Iraq, and so did Doc Gelo in Malaysia and Raquel in Germany. To make a long story short, Magnum the ice cream is here... brought to us by the kind folks of Unilever Philippines. can't tell you how HOOKED I was when I first bit into its crunchy outer topping made of the finest Belgian chocolate and then drowned in the silky, ... Meeting LuLu at Rockwell
An invitation that read "this is where PNoy took Grace Lee out on a date" certainly got me curious about the new restaurant called LuLu in Rockwell. Okay, this used to be the old resto called Lu (which I never got to try) until it was sold to the new owners, Chef Tom Hines and DJ/ businessman Rodel Intia. Judging from the initial degustacion (where I sampled a little bit of everything that was on my lunchmates' plates), looks like LuLu is a place I can go to again and again, budget permitting :) First of all, I like the merry mix of contemporary and retro in the ...
