Young entrepreneur Ifore Yu launched Chicken Charlie after falling in love with the taste of Bonchon in New York (now he says the local Bonchon franchise is nowhere near as delicious!) So he concocted his own recipe of what a great-tasting, twice-fried Korean fried chicken would be like, and came up with his own brand. Chicken Charlie's first branch in the heart of Manila is now occupying the former spot of Kopi Roti in Adriatico St. Malate. It should be my new hangout soon, as it is near the office. I can't help myself from eating one chicken wing after another. ... Continue Reading...
Buon Giorno @ Rockwell Business Center, Ortigas
It was my first time to visit the Rockwell Business Center within the Meralco Compound in Ortigas. Shame on me, I didn't even know there was a "Rockwell" in this part of town. Normally, I would think it's the Power Plant Mall, one of my favorite shopping and dining destinations in the metro. Just like the Rockwell in Makati, this one didn't disappoint - although admittedly, I need to explore it more. The area consists of office towers fitted with contemporary work spaces. I think the best part is the generous landscaping and the majestic view of the Ortigas ... Continue Reading...
Bakery Fair 2011: cakes galore!
Baking enthusiasts and those with a sweet tooth: February 20 (Sunday) is the last day to visit Bakery Fair 2011 organized by the Filipino Chinese Bakery Association Inc. at the World Trade Center in Manila. I had an interesting time at this fair ( & paying the P100 entrance fee like a good citizen) even though I was alone roaming the exhibition hall. Hubby and all the others wearing shorts weren't allowed in, even though it was a hot, sweltering day in Manila. Why oh why? :D Animal-inspired cake creations inspired by 2011 being the Year of the Rabbit ... Continue Reading...
Falling in love with BF Paranaque’s home kitchens
It is always a joy to discover something new. In this case, we have been driving a lot through BF Homes in Paranaque which is establishing a name as a culinary territory. I've never seen this many diverse cuisines concentrated in one area - Thai, Indonesian, Irish, Cuban, Persian, Singaporean and even Punjabi. One thing am really charmed with are the "home kitchens" - what I call those cozy bungalows which have been converted into restaurant spaces, mostly in the long strip of Aguirre. They're worth mentioning because it is quite a big leap for a home cook or baker ... Continue Reading...
Chic Moms Club & my roast chicken diet
I've received an email invitation to join the Bounty Fresh Chic Moms Club. Apparently, they have an ongoing promo till March where you get a chance to win new Louis Vuitton or Gucci bags if you register on their website and refer the most number of new members. I've registered in order to get new recipes delivered to my inbox and am excited to be updated on the events they have in store for their members. I've given up on winning the LV or Gucci for now since am not on the internet 24/7. But if you think you've got what it takes to have the highest number of ... Continue Reading...
