Case in point: a group of relatives go home to the Philippines after eight years of living in Europe. They're hankering for Filipino food. Where do you bring them? Am sure you'll agree with me when I say Barrio Fiesta is one of the best places to take them to. Even with the abundance of restaurants serving Filipino cuisine around, Barrio Fiesta is a favorite mainstay. I think there's no pairing more classic than crispy pata and kare-kare - it's exactly the two specialties they've built their business on. Alas, a recent visit to a Barrio Fiesta branch in ... Dayrit’s : revisiting an old favorite
Our baby is now two months old! We regularly visit her pedia and it's good that the clinic is located in a little-known foodie destination called Paseo de Magallanes. We tried Bob's in Paseo before and this time around, it was my turn to revisit the familiar old tastes of Dayrit's - one of Manila's original burger joints. Dayrit's only now has two remaining branches - Magallanes and The Fort (see end of this post for the complete address). Their main branch in Magallanes is supremely no-frills. However, it easily gets filled during peak hours with people craving ... Continue Reading...
Amoroma : best Italian resto in Tagaytay
I was never able to visit the much-acclaimed Italian resto Amoroma all the time it was in Alabang. That old place is closed, and now am glad this "best-kept secret resto" has permanently settled in Tagaytay. You'll see it if you use the Sta. Rosa Road. It now even boasts of a bed and breakfast! ... Continue Reading...
Cafe 5845: Manila’s first cheese restaurant set to open
It's time to literally "say cheese!" With the date to be announced, Manila is set to open the first cheese-themed restaurant at the SM Mall of Asia soon. It is inspired by the country's recent feat of being in the Guinness Book of World Records for coming up with 5,845 cheese-based dishes in one day last December 14, 2009 - beating India's previous record of 4,668 dishes made in 2007. The forthcoming cafe will thus be called Cafe 5845 and will be made possible by the same team who collaborated for the Guinness world record, namely Kraft Foods Philippines (in ... Weekend F & B: Serenitea + Sentosa food + buffalo wings
The joys of living in southern Metro Manila, and I can very well say that after two years of relocating here. I still have to make my list of best dining places in Paranaque (where we live) but in the meantime, it's good to discover little exciting places here and there. Let's start with the usual suspect: the resto row in the long stretch of Aguirre Avenue in BF Homes, Paranaque. After hearing gushing reviews from my netizen friends, trying out Serenitea with its wide variety of teas was inevitable. I certainly saw a steady stream of customers, enticed perhaps ...
