Just when I thought I was becoming tired of the Greenbelt restaurants comes now Mr. Jones. It was certainly nice to meet "him" that warm Thursday afternoon, looking every bit like the hip diner I can hang out for hours and hours in. Hmm, I wonder if they have free wifi ~ my attention seems to have been focused on all the food awaiting us. With two appetizer rounds, a sampling of three main courses, dessert and an ice-cream filled drink, the tasting that awaited us was particularly heavy. I should have skipped lunch :D We were in Mr. Jones coz it collaborated ... Continue Reading...
Hello again, Mario’s!
There were two reasons that would make preggy ol' me brave the rush-hour traffic to Quezon City on a Thursday night: our wedding emcee, Spanky, and his invite to try the delectable dishes awaiting us at Mario's, one of the most enduring restaurants in the Tomas Morato area (operating for 30 or so years now, wouldja believe?) It was time to meet again owners Mrs. Nenuca Benitez and her son Mr. Fil Benitez who were quite excited to introduce their new house specials. One thing about Mario's (in the few times I've dined there), their food doesn't disappoint and their ... Continue Reading...
A P600 four-course meal at Harry’s Bar, Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill
We've eaten a few times at the fairly new Venice Piazza in McKinley Hill, the latest restaurant strip to open near the Fort. I hear the whole complex has a Venetian theme and there will even be those faux gondolas in the future. It all sounds exciting, but the restaurants we've tried on this strip has so far been wanting. Old Vine Grille was a costly disappointment and Stackers burgers weren't really as juicy and tasty as one expects to be. I am forever waiting for Ristras Mexican Grill to open, mostly because San Juan is a long drive from where we live. But the ... Continue Reading...
Fish & Co., and an overpriced dessert ….
That day being Holy Thursday, there was a dearth of hang-outs open, particularly the ones that we often frequent. But I remember how thankful hubby was that S & R Membership Shopping didn't close its doors for last-minute grocery runs, it closed only during Good Friday. I also read an ad in the papers about select restos open in the Mall of Asia during Holy Week 2010 and that's how we ended up in Fish & Co. Fish & Co. is part of the Bistro food chain which includes TGI Friday's, Italianni's and Flapjacks. We like the last three for their big-size American (Italian) ... Continue Reading...
Worst service ever : Tempura Japanese Grill
I've eaten twice in this resto before, and I don't know what happened along the way. It's rare that i RANT, but when I do, my Kamote Award for Worst Service and Sanitation by a restaurant chain goes to ..... Tempura Japanese Grill. How else do you explain being an office worker on a one-hour lunch break, and 35 minutes later, your order still hasn't arrived? We ate at their United Nations Avenue branch, and I had to beg for a glass of water just to quench my thirst while waiting. In the meantime, I had to use their toilet which was strewn with used tissue toilet ... Continue Reading...
