Am no stranger to Crumpler laptop bags. It's really worth it to shell out a little more than $100 for these bags because they're well made and can stand being so ruggedly used (like being placed in the luggage compartment of a bus or thrown around the airport scanner, for example). This Crumpler briefcase from the Dry Red series was my companion for weeks (too bad it's a review unit only). I often wear a black suit to the office but I felt confident enough to lug it around. Maybe because it was a beautiful red color. I used it mostly as a handbag, but there was ... Continue Reading...
‘Cue Modern Barbecue in Bonifacio High Street Central
'Cue is one of the successful restaurants in BHS Central at the moment. It gets packed, even on weekdays. We hear it from sources that 'Cue is owned by first-time restaurateurs. This convinces me of the fact that great-tasting food & good menu selection is the key! Warning! Don't go to 'Cue if you're a vegetarian or just starting your Cohen diet. You'll definitely suffer :) 'Cue is for die-hard carnivores (read: can't live without meat) and families or big groups who want to relish their comfort food like finger-lickin' ribs and more! Proof of the fact that ... Continue Reading...
SLICE in Bonifacio High Street Central
My week has been busy with lunches and dinners. And it seems most of them are centered on the newest place in town to explore your culinary palate further ... Bonifacio High Street Central in Bonifacio Global City (just across the huge store of R.O.X.) For a product launch, I was glad to dine at SLICE - the resto of Sen. Pia Cayetano. Ambiance was, overall, bright and cheery. The prices aren't bad either - you can enjoy coffee and cake for a little less than P200. Our friend Franco told me not to miss the yema chocolate cupcake (P70 each). The condensada/dulce de ... Continue Reading...
The Cake Club: not just about cakes
I had my trepidation the first time I heard about The Cake Club. First, I thought it was so generic-sounding for a dessert place and held no appeal for someone like me who's trying to a) lose weight and b) avoid diabetes. I was certainly glad to find that the place offered more than desserts. Although you're highly encouraged to clinch your meal with a sweet, happy ending...more on that later. We started our meal with a highly-indulgent appetizer called the foie gras macaron (P150 each), fashioned by the Diamond Hotel's executive chef Nick Stoyanov from a French ... Continue Reading...
Lady Gaga in Manila!
Controversial pop singer Lady Gaga peacefully arrived in Manila Saturday night amid religious protests of her upcoming concert. The protests reportedly forced the singer and her entourage to fly via a chartered plane from Taipei and to land in an isolated part of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1. All these to avoid the limelight. Still, Gaga is prepared to rock the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds on May 21 and 22 (Monday and Tuesday) and thousands of her Filipino followers are expected to join her in singing her famous songs like Telephone, ...
