Young entrepreneur Ifore Yu launched Chicken Charlie after falling in love with the taste of Bonchon in New York (now he says the local Bonchon franchise is nowhere near as delicious!) So he concocted his own recipe of what a great-tasting, twice-fried Korean fried chicken would be like, and came up with his own brand. Chicken Charlie's first branch in the heart of Manila is now occupying the former spot of Kopi Roti in Adriatico St. Malate. It should be my new hangout soon, as it is near the office. I can't help myself from eating one chicken wing after another. ... Continue Reading...
Samsung 2011 gadgets & appliances up close
One of the events I attended last week was the annual Samsung AV Roadshow held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria. It was my turn to ogle at what the Korean electronics giant had to offer in terms of TVs, cameras and other gadgets for 2011. The new line-up of Smart TVs is simply awesome. Imagine being able to Facebook right in your living room, then share whatever you're watching with your close FB friends. The TVs are smart enough to recommend videos based on your viewing habits. ... Continue Reading...
Win a date with Daniel Matsunaga extended
We had lunch this week with hot Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga. But whoever wins the Veet Me contest is even luckier: she will have dinner with Daniel in an undisclosed place in the Fort and a lotta wholesome fun after that :D Apparently, depilatory brand Veet conducted a survey among Pinay women on the local hunk they wanted to spend a nice evening with. Daniel topped the poll, followed by Akihiro Sato and Jericho Rosales. After having met Daniel in person, we can't blame them. Daniel Matsunaga comes off as a soft-spoken, level-headed person ... Off stage at the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 grand coronation night
I had a great experience watching the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 grand coronation night with my good friend Ojie Lucman. For starters, it has been ages since I set foot in Araneta Coliseum, known hereabouts as the Big Dome. Good thing it's just a short ride away via the MRT train. We had an early dinner at Va Pensiero, an Italian restaurant in Gateway Mall and proceeded to the pageant venue where I saw half of the gay population in Manila ready to root for their candidates. :D Beauty contests are a big thing in the country, I tell you! Tickets weren't cheap at P1500 each ... Continue Reading...
Shamcey Supsup, architect board topnotcher, wins Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2011
The irresistible combination of beauty and brains made her win. Shamcey Supsup, (middle in photo) topnotcher of the June 2010 architect licensure exam and magna cum laude graduate from UP-Diliman, was crowned last night Bb. Pilipinas Universe. Standing at 5 feet 71/4 inches, the 24-year old will represent the country in the Miss Universe Pageant to be held in September in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the question and answer portion, she wowed the crowd with her reply to the query on what she values the most. She said it was education because it's more important to a person ...
