Of Imelda and Ninoy

August 31, 2004 ·

After weeks of lying in my underwear drawer, I finally had the energy to watch last Sunday the VCD of Imelda: The Documentary which was given to me by The Madam's ever-loyal publicist, Sol Jose Vanzi.According to Sol, Mrs. Marcos is miffed about certain untruths in the docu which was megged by Ramona S. Diaz. Among these are shots of the Mendiola Massacre which was used in the movie ("it happened during the Cory Administration") and the how the director allegedly tricked the former First Lady into granting the interviews. Allegedly, Imelda spoke her mind because she ... Continue Reading...

White is a neutral color

August 30, 2004 ·

On a lull from my writing tasks today, I hang around in the women's CR and noticed speckles of white on my hair which I thought was dandruff but on closer inspection turned out to be white hair. Not one but several!Honestly, I am not scared. The white strands of hair appear to have gloriously settled on my crowning glory and I am not having the perverse joy of coloring them brown or orange anytime soon. Here are my thoughts on the matter:White hair is better than no hair.White hair is my badge of wisdom. They stand for the incredible experiences I've had in life which I ... Continue Reading...

Homebody Saturday

August 28, 2004 ·

Time was when Saturdays stood for my insecurities and fears. I had to go out.I had to be on the move.I had to be on a date, dine out, party the night away, have coffee with friends...till Sunday morning arrives and I would be wasted. I know I've mellowed and aged like wine when I feel comfortable in routines that will not necessarily land me on the Ms. Popularity List.Suddenly, going out is such a drag and even the thought of spending the day with Ryan Gosling will not budge me from my bed.It has taken me quite a while to realize that being alone does not make me ... The Fontana of our Youth

August 26, 2004 ·

Taken at the Pirates' Ship where the kids literally went wet and wild, originally uploaded by ajay. Before the heavy rains lashed Manila, I was fortunate enough to take the kids out to Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino in Pampanga's Clark Special Economic Zone. It was a sunny Sunday and there was hardly any traffic on the much-improved North Expressway. Our trip thus took only one and a half hours. As I found out, you shouldn't go to Fontana if your idea of adventure is plunging the depths of Tubbataha Reef. The resort has a lovely Water Park that is meant for kids. ... Continue Reading...
