  1. 20 things about my trip to HK

    April 29, 2006 by ajay

    1. Dimsum for breakfast

    2. Dimsum for lunch

    3. & dimsum for dinner.. isn’t such a bad idea.

    4. Must have tasted 20 kinds of dimsum all in all.

    5. The sight of Jollibee side by side with the carinderia food in Little Quiapo looked surreal. I wouldn’t be caught dead eating Chicken Joy in HK but I have this weird habit of eating at McDonald’s (or KFC) in every country am in.

  2. Minimum-Maximum

    April 28, 2006 by ajay

I told my eight-year old son that if he wants to, I can enroll him and his sisters to the McDonalds Kiddie Camp this summer. It’s a five-day training workshop where they teach kids six to 12 years old the rudiments of working at McDonald’s, the fun way of course.

And the first thing he asked me was:

Will my wage be minimum or maximum??”

(*Flustered mom does not know what to answer.)

  3. LiveBlogging: Nokia launches the N93, N73 & N72

    April 26, 2006 by ajay

Having been able to test-drive the just-launched Nokia N93, I am now seriously thinking of investing in a cellphone. Although the price is to be announced yet, it wouldn’t hurt much spending something like P45,000 for a multifunction phone that acts as a videoplayer, digicam, music player and all that .. just as long as you have it insured!! hehe

What makes the Nokia N93 hot:

    - 3.2 megapixels with Carl Zeiss optics, 3x optical zoom, MPEG4 video capture

    - DVD-like video quality with built-in Adobe Premiere software that will enable you to create professional -looking videos (and who knows even a movie!) With Adobe, burn your images in a CD by plugging your phone to your computer and edit away!

    - share the images via TV out, MMS, email, bluetooth and 3G.

    - blog from your phone via Flickr

    - WLAN/WiFi connectivity at 802.11 b/g and/or Universal Plug n Play (UPnP)

    - Rip CDs and transfer music using the Nokia Music Manager PC software

    - 50 MB internal memory with 128 MB mini SD card

  4. In Hong Kong… finally!

    April 25, 2006 by ajay

The flight was delayed for 30 minutes and it felt like I was in a microwave oven in that CX plane (hot, hot, hot!)but I am finally in HK. From the airport, we took the Express Train (fare:P600) then a taxi to our hotel which our host warned was “in the middle of nowhere.” What do you know, it’s the coolest, funkiest place I’ve ever stayed in. I am simply in love with the Le Meridien Cyberport, and am glad it will be my home for the next three days. These are the things I adore: the hip, contemporary designs; the view of the bay from my window; the 42-inch plasma TV in my room; the plush bed with Egyptian linen and pillows; and the wireless high-speed internet am using now. Also got to use their cardiovascular gym where they even lend you an iPod Mini to get more inspired in those workouts. In my suite, there are mirrors all over and a “walk-in rain shower.” The only thing missing was a bathtub (*big cry). If my hotel is as nice and cozy as this, guess I’ll have to forego all that shopping and walking around. I don’t mean it of course. Looking forward to seeing the city tomorrow.

  5. A meme, for thinking out loud

    April 24, 2006 by ajay

Got these from those brilliant Singapore bloggers. If you’re in my links list, please feel free to fill in the blanks:

My ex is somebody I still talk to every single friggin’ day.

Maybe I should stop blogging, but then what kind of life would that be? There’s nothing else that so interests me now. After close to two years, this is getting to be a long-term relationship. A friend said am such a compulsive writer… yeah!

I love my kids; God for being kind to me; going on road trips; discovering nice new places to eat and chill-out in; making love; making new friends; my vibrator; shoes, bags, clothes, make-up and shopping in general; sunsets; beaches; magazines; gadgets; blogging; Asia … not necessarily in that order.

  6. Cafe Arabela : Liliw’s best-kept (open) secret

    April 23, 2006 by ajay

My trip companions Ruth & Lei were keen on visiting Liliw because they would like to have another bite at Arabela. Being inveterate foodies, the cafe came with their highest recommendations which aroused my gustatory curiosity all the more. For a while, I thought some haughty Italian owned the place. It turned out to be a venture of a Filipino husband and wife team totally devoted to the twin pleasures of cooking and eating.

  7. Motoring to Liliw, Laguna: the ‘tsinelas’ country

    April 23, 2006 by ajay

On my way home to Manila, I dropped by San Pablo’s neighboring town Liliw which is just 30 minutes or so away. Going there, we passed by the towns of Rizal, Nagcarlan (site of the Underground Cemetery) and Alaminos (where another tourism spot, the Hidden Valley is located.) Liliw is famous for being a prime producer of tsinelas (native slippers) and in fact held its annual tsinelas festival recently.

  8. San Pablo food trip: the culinary pleasures of Kusina Salud

    April 22, 2006 by ajay

While in San Pablo, I simply had to check out Kusina Salud for all the raves I’ve been hearing about its food. It didn’t seem easy going here and it’s probably a must that you have your own vehicle. Kusina is designer Patis Tesoro’s country home now converted into a crafts and culinary destination. The huge compund also houses an aviary and art gallery but since it was pitch dark when we went here, we weren’t able to view these. The overall theme of the place is “eclectic” as it hosts the owners’ antique furnitures and other collectibles gained from travels around the world.

  9. Home at last! in Tahanan ni Aling Meding

    April 21, 2006 by ajay

I am in San Pablo City as a guest of the Tahanan ni Aling Meding which is by far the most heavenly place I’ve stayed in a long time. Why is this so? Because it is not as stiff as a hotel and boasts of the comfort of home while providing all the amenities you need as a valued guest.

This place was originally a rest house for a family of 11 siblings who made it big as migrants in the United States. This explains the 11 rooms in the mansion of which 10 are now open to the public.”Aling Meding” is the late family matriarch and everywhere in the place you can see various mementoes as well as photos showing how close-knit this family is.
