1st IHOP in the Philippines opens Feb 15! (updated)

February 13, 2013 ·

I've been seeing a lot of searches for IHOP in this blog which only means that the people of Manila can't wait to taste the heavenly pancakes and more at IHOP. Well I guess the waiting won't take so long because the first branch of ihop opens in Bonifacio Global City post-Valentine's. The doors open at 6 am, Feb. 15 (today) to be exact. It will be only be a soft opening but expect the crowd to be full already. We've been told that IHOP Philippines will adopt the same menu as those in the US. Aside from the the usual breakfast stuff like pancakes, omelettes, waffles ... Continue Reading...

J.Co Donuts Eastwood branch is open 24/7

February 12, 2013 ·

Am pleased to have seen J.Co Donuts grow - from the time it was first launched to the phenomenal success it is enjoying in less than a year of operation. It seems this donut has captured the Filipino palate because of their tempting gourmet flavors, delicious taste and the fact that it's not too sweet. Two weeks ago, J.Co opened their latest branch in Eastwood City. Their largest branch so far is also open 24 hours, solving the problem of those who have to brave the lines during peak hours. Eastwood is the latest addition to the growing chain of J.Co donuts ... Continue Reading...

Road to Angkor Wat

February 11, 2013 ·

Happy to greet 2013 crossing one more thing off my bucket list and that is seeing the historic, majestic Angkor Wat.There are many ways to see this ancient site: if you've got the extra budget, ride a helicopter (about $95) or a balloon (see photo). You can also go around the Bayon temple astride an elephant. A first-timer like me was better off hiring a tuk-tuk for $15. This was better than joining a group or opting for a tourist bus, in my opinion. At least you can explore the temples at your own leisure without waiting for other people. You can also tell ... Cambodian cooking class

February 9, 2013 ·

In the same way that I took a cooking class in Hanoi, I also couldn't resist taking one in Siem Reap. It was the best $10 I've spent in an activity so far. Nothing's more exciting than hearing it from the locals themselves on how to prepare their dishes. And being able to whip up a foreign dish is something you can happily show off to family and friends back home. It's easier than you think ;) I took the class at Temple Bar in Pub Street. They had this spacious spot on the second floor with all the bells & whistles for a whole afternoon of cooking. Aside from ... Continue Reading...

Cebu Pacific Manila-Siem Reap (& vice versa)

February 6, 2013 ·

It was my first time to try Cebu Pacific outside of their Hong Kong-Macau flights and had a good experience (disclaimer: this is NOT a sponsored post, LOL). I just had to be in this flight because am trying to make a list of all the exotic places I want to visit in Asia and Siem Reap (home of the Angkor Wat) is one of them. Cebu Pacific is the only local airline right now flying straight to Siem Reap and for the savvy traveler, this is definitely faster than taking the overland route from Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City. Travel time is two hours 45 minutes. The flights ... Continue Reading...
